Digital camera reviews of LaCie Rugged All-Terrain 320 GB Firewire800/Firewire400/USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive 301832Digital camera Review: Lacie 320 GB External Hard Drive Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second Lacie External hard drive I have bought and I love this product. Very robust and easy to use. Would recommend to all who need an external hard drive. I currently use them on my Mac's.
Digital camera Review: Lacie is working good for me. Summary: 5 Stars
My use for this hard drive is for my MAC Mini which has only 80 gig native.
Via fire wire 400 (they changed to fw800 after this one) I run my system off the Lacie giving me more space and speed, at least it seems faster. Configuring the mac to do this was easy by looking up "running a mac externally" on a search engine and finding a how to or a you tube how to.
The hard drive runs mildly warm and after a month its still working great.
I looks and feels rugged like I might be able to drop it and keep going, but
I'm not going to test that part.
I'd like it if they had a 1tb this same size I guess this will come with time.
I am very happy with this for now.
Digital camera Review: Like a Tank Summary: 5 Stars
This harddrive is all powerful. not only can it store up to 300 gb of all your files, but it has so many ports to choose from. my favorite is firewire 800. HOWEVER, this product is focused more on MAC users than PC users as the harddrive is pre formatted to HFS Journaled. Nevertheless, the speed that this drive delivers when transferring and backing up large files and folders is phenominal. I even dropped this thing (accidentally) from my table and nothing happened, not a scratch, drive still works perfectly... purely amazing.
Pros: Multiple Connections, RUGGED AND BEASTLIKE, Speed, Formatted for MAC, all cables provided
CONS: may run a bit hot when plugged in too long, package should include multiple rubber casings of different colors.
Digital camera Review: My Macbook Pro works well with LaCie Summary: 4 Stars
I am an impossible music buff. Any kind of music is welcome to my ears and have scores of them stored. Probably this led me to the LaCie Rugged All-Terrain 320 GB USB 2.0/FireWire 400/800 Portable Hard Drive 301832. Opted for the 320 GB when there was a 500 GB available because of my purse strings!!
I have a Macbook Pro, which has a firewire800 port, and my 301832 connected to it without making any fuss.
My device needs a power adapter. Had it been USB-powered, it would have been better.
Yet, Really worth the money!
Digital camera Review: Nice but... Summary: 3 Stars
I just received my new LaCie Rugged All.Terrain Hard Disk, and the first use was with my MacBook Pro.
Time Machine Software (on my Mac) spend almost 1 hr in 125GB, which I think is 'a little' too much time, but my biggest concern was with the External Hard Drive temperature... It increased very fast, and stays in that for all the procedure.
The external material looks good but feel a bit cheap for me. Colors are great, though!
Anyway, I'm not sorry for purchasing it...
