I have a MACBook Pro and needed extra space and this drive has been a great add on to my Laptop. It has the speed and capacity to allow me to work on large video and photo files, it also linked up with no issues with Time Machine.. This is a great little drive. I needed something portable that I could put in my laptop bag and lug around with me. My last Lacie drive was a shear work horse so I looked to them again. Unfortunately for me, once I received the drive I realized that I needed to have 2 firewire 400 slots so I could daisy chain a few things together. This drive does not have that feature so I had to return it. I replaced it with another Lacie drive and really am happy with it so far.Digital camera Review: Great Drive - But the recommended case didn't fit!

The drive is exactly what I expected and works perfectly for my video projects on the Macs at school.
However - the Case Logic case that Amazon recommends DOES NOT FIT Case Logic Compact Portable Hard Drive Case (Black). The case is too small. I returned it and ordered the LaCie case - LaCie Cozy 2.5-Inch Carrying Case for Rikiki, Rugged and other Portable Hard Drives 130900 (Black) - which fits like a glove, sleeve and all.
The only drawbacks:
- I'm not a fan of the orange bumper and ordered the set of 3 sleeves separately LaCie Set of 3 Sleeves for Rugged Hard Drives 130752. I wish you could just pick the preferred color OR order them individually.
- The supplied Firewire cables are only about 18", which just reaches the top of the Mac, but if you need longer lengths, plan ahead.

I needed a good high-capacity hard drive when I am doing photography. Something to dump my cards on to and keep shooting but yet would not take too much space or require extra cables/connections. This was perfect. It is powered by the computer and so I need only a Firewire and I am ready to go.
