Digital camera Review: Good as a cam in a hurry

My girl was going to be traveling to another country, but I still wanted to see her. There are so many cheap webcams out there, I didn't know where to begin. I remembered the Labtec name and decided on this simple camera to help us keep in touch.

With Windows XP and later Windows 7, simply plugging it in was enough to get it working. It was recognized by GTalk and when I switched to Messenger still worked great. For both programs I used the built in camera wizard and was set up in moments.

Not once did I get complaints about the sound or video quality from the other end. Sure, it's not as high res as modern cameras, but it's sturdy, has adequate picture quality and a good microphone. Sure you can buy cheaper cameras, but none will be as well built as this. At the time of this review I see one available for about $10, so don't hesitate to buy at that price.
