I got mine from Staples on sale for $12.97. Mine has a black top with a bright yellow pillow. I use a 17" screen laptop that is rather heavy. With this desk, the laptop's weight is not a problem. The laptop/desk combination is stable for typing and comfortable for long periods. There is a slight raised edge around the work surface with a strong clip on the side. It's great with recliners but my favorite is using this laptop/desk combination with my zero-gravity chair. I have a lot of back pain and I can work comfortably for hours this way. I wanted a way to use my laptop while resting in my recliner. There are a lot of expensive gizmos on the market to meet the need but nothing that meets the need as simply and inexpensively as this Lap Desk. If there is anything at all I would change, it would be that the platform be a little stiffer, but really it isn't an isue.Digital camera Review: I need one of these!

I bought one of these for my future mother-in-law for her birthday. She has a lot of knee problems and the best thing for her is to relax in her chair. She loves borrowing my future husband's laptop and using it on her chair or doing crafts. I thought this would be perfect so she didn't have to balance the computer on a pillow. I was playing on the laptop using her lap desk and it was comfortable and so much easier. Since I'm getting married and I'm doing a lot of DIY projects, I try to do some on my coffee table so I can have a movie in the background..... this would definitely come in handy. As a student who hates sitting at desks and prefers to be on a couch or in a comfortable chair to do work, I often have trouble figuring out how to adequately manage all of my books/papers/etc on my lap without them falling all over the place and being disorganized. I was looking for something that would neatly, safely, and comfortably hold my laptop/ book/ papers/ whatever the task at hand, and this was just right. It's strong enough to hold my 6 pound laptop, but not too bulky or heavy on its own. It can easily go in a corner or under a chair until it needs to be used. The cushiony part is comfortable and soft, and the surface is not too porous or textured to write on. It's super convenient! I do everything on it--reading, writing, computering, crossword-puzzling, sudokuing, eating, repairing, painting my nails... Plus, with the pencil holders I don't have to get up to find my lost pens every half hour. The only flaw, so far, is that the little cover-like things on the corners of the clip fell off, so when I put paper under it there's a dent... but it doesn't really bother me, it's still a functioning clipboard. If I were designing it myself, I'd throw in a cup holder and have the top open up to a storage area... but for my needs, and for the price, it's perfect!
