Digital camera Review: Great laptop desk

I bought this on Amazon back in January 2007. I love it-use it almost every day. Very light weight and helps my legs cool. I have a mac book pro and got the 18" I could fit the mouse on the space but choose not too-almost too tight to fit the laptop-(15") and a mouse.
I highly recommend this product.

I just began using my Lapinator and am so pleased I had to write a review! I have been looking for something to make my laptop computing experience more comfortable and safer for my machine. I have looked at hundreds of cooling pads, chill mats, and various other accessories on numerous websites and none of them fit my needs. Most seemed designed to be used on a desk surface and none provided the combination of comfort and cooling I needed. (I actually use my laptop on my lap, not my desk. Go figure!) The Lapinator, on the other hand, perfectly meets my needs. It keeps my machine and my legs cooler and provides a comfy, padded surface to cushion my legs from the weight of my laptop. I am so pleased with this product! For laptop users like me, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread! I bought my first Lapinator Plus to use with a MacBook. The first night I had it was the first night that I didn't have hot legs from using the laptop while watching TV. I mentioned it to my wife, and of course she wanted to try it to use with her Dell. She wouldn't give it back
So I ordered a second one.
Then my son came by and liked it so much iI offered it to him
So I ordered my third one
The Lapinator Plus board remains firm even when I'm banging on the keyboard, or just resting my hands on the keyboard. There is no distortion.
The pads on the bottom, which are what come in contact with your legs, are very comfortable and ensure that the board itself is not resting on your legs. Hence no leg heat.
Also, the bumpers are well done. The Dell has a fan vent on the bottom of the laptop, and the bumpers raise the rear end of the machine just enough to allow the vent to work properly. And, the bumpers keep the machine in place.
The product keeps the machine in place, keeps my legs cool and is wide enough for a mouse to sit alongside.
Wouldn't have ordered the additional Lapinators if I wasn't happy :)

I bought two Lapinator Plus desks several months ago, one for our old ThinkPad (P4) and one for our new Dell (Core 2 Duo).
Stability:
I have not installed the plastic feet that come with it. The ThinkPad slides a little bit, but I really don't notice this (I'd install the feet if it were a problem.). The Dell does not slide at all.
Comfort:
Our laptops are six or seven pounds, so, no matter what, I'm going to feel something on my legs. The two pads on the bottom of a Lapinator are very comfortable. They cushions/disperses the weight on my legs really well.
Heat:
The Lapinator does an excellent job at preventing my legs from feeling any heat. I have felt heat while watching DVDs, but this heat has come from the vents in the back of the laptops, blowing out OVER THE LAPINATOR and onto my knee. I can't hold the Lapinator responsible for this.
Velcro Strap:
The Lapinator has a Velcro strap to hold a power cord. Sine I have had a laptop suffer from power problems due to wear on the power connection, I like the idea of a strap for stabilizing the power cord. Well, it works, but it is Velcro, meaning that the "stickiness" is very slowly wearing out. Maybe I'll complain in a year or two if this strap finally gives out.
Support:
I have never contacted the support staff.
Alternatives:
I researched other laptop desks. I didn't see any other wide, solid, and comfortable products available. Sure, there are serious "hard plastic" products (some with fans) as well as fold-up, portable, plastic products. In the end, I tried the Lapinator. I got lucky.
Verdict:
30$ (a discount for buying two) may seem a bit much. In my opinion, it's not. I use our laptops every day, sitting in a chair or on the sofa, and I no longer see the Lapinator as something separate from the laptop: it's there and it does its job -- and does its job well. I'd buy again without hesitation. Also, if you're buying, get the Lapinator Plus, you won't regret the extra width. I don't think I'd want the regular Lapinator.

Or other widescreen laptop computer, or even just want some extra mouse-space, this lap desk is a fantastic choice. It even comes with rubber feet to help elevate your laptop for cooling, if the feet on your machine aren't doing the job. This also helps keep the machine from sliding at all on the smooth surface of the lap desk.
Having looked for a lap desk as a gift for my room mate I wanted something, lightweight and portable but large enough to be functional and over all to be comfortable. The Lapinator Plus was all that, and then some. Eventually, I'm going to get one for myself.
