Digital camera reviews of Linksys CIT400 Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit with Integrated SkypeDigital camera Review: Excellent product; great value Summary: 5 StarsI love my new Skype phone by Linksys. Been using it a few weeks now and here's what I like:
1. It is a standalone phone which means it operates without your computer turned on. You don't even need a computer in your home to set it up. However I prefer to manage my Skype contacts using my computer (i.e., using the Skype software on my computer). Other than that, I get everything I need done (making calls, checking voice mails, etc) just using my phone by itself.
2. Call quality is very good, because (1) the phone itself is good, and the (2) Linksys base station is good, and (3) the Skype network is pretty stable and reliable. I did a test call as soon as I hooked this up, and was told by the person I called that I sounded better than when I call with my cell phone.
3. Can hook up headset to this phone. Easy to talk forever, hands free.
Overall this was a great purchase. I highly recommend this phone.
Digital camera Review: Linksys CIT400 Summary: 4 StarsPros:
Free Skype Calls
Hassle free design / easy to use
Saves your username and password
does what its supposed to do
Works on any router brand (ive used netgear and linksys)
Cons:
Sub-par battery life
Backlit numberpad not really visible
Skype sometimes hangs (needs to be reset)
needs to be charged for 14-16 hrs out of the box
I'm currently studying in the USA, and my girlfriend is from the Philippines. I bought her this phone so that we could save on the international phone bills and time spent on the computer chatting. Skype was very convenient but you had to have the computer on and our timing had to be synchronized.
Now with this skype phone, she can have her computer off (saves electricity) and I can call her any time I want to for free. I personally used the phone for a few weeks and I did not find anything bad about it. It basically did what it was supposed to do. (I did some research and found out that 3-way calling between skype and phone users are only available on the GE Skype phone - a feature we didn't need but you might want to consider).
Anyway I plan to purchase another of these phones for myself so that I can keep in contact with my girlfriend. I am overall satisfied with my purchase and Amazon's service.
Digital camera Review: Cheap but solid Summary: 4 StarsNothing bad to say about this phone, except that occasionally Skype craps out and you get errors making calls or having people call you. But for $5/month compared to regular phone service or Vonage, I can't complain. Definitely happy with the hardware, sound is strong and clear, has plenty of features I will never use.
Digital camera Review: Skype it!! Summary: 5 StarsIt really cuts long distance calls costs down, with a very acceptable voice quality.
Wi-Fi connectivity to basestation works perfectly, and does not interfere with my other wireless stufs.
Digital camera Review: 3 star phone plus 2 stars for allowing you to use skype Summary: 5 StarsOk,
I have a nice Cisco office phone on my desk at home which this phone does not come close to matching in quality so I can;t say wow to the phone like it's the greatest thing ever. What I can say beneficial is that this phone works comparably bad/good as most any other portable but allows skype which is nice. For some reason my international calls show a tremendous degradation of quality sometimes but i have no idea if this is the phone but I never have this problem on headset. Overall well worth it if you prefer skype, and if you don't prefer skype you should.
