Digital camera reviews of Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Home Router with 4-Port Switch Mimo

Digital camera Review: Great wireless router
Summary: 5 Stars

One thing I have learned about wireless routers is not to read the instructions or put in the cd as they say. Easiest way to install these is to hook them up and restart everything. Type in 192.168.1.1 in your browser window and type in admin and admin(user name and password which you should change first thing) and set up all the things you need. People read up on what you are buying and then buy it. These are no-brainers to get up and running. Linksys by far are the easiest and most reliable. I gave it five stars because all I had to do was plug it in. Using the built-in encrytion is just a matter of pressing the generate key and you are done.

Digital camera Review: Hardware Great... Tech support is worse than HP! That's bad.
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this for $109 (not on amazon). Got it up and running in 10 minutes but Nintendo DS and PSP wouldn't recognize it. Spend 2 hours with 4 Linksys support guys (poor English and they just disconnect from you if they don't know the answer or if their algorithm fails). All 4 tech guys said it was both Nintendo and Sony's fault that the network wouldn't recognize them. Finally I gave up on Linksys tech... applied the latest firmware update to software and rebooted and it worked (NOT suggested by tech support). This is my 3rd wireless network. So if you think you'll need tech support, DO NOT buy this until Linksys gets a clue that tech support is important.

Digital camera Review: LINKSYS WRT150N
Summary: 2 Stars

This router is expensive and unreliable. It frequently locks up, resulting loss connection, which required adaptor disconnect and reconnect. This happen almost every other day. I am very disappointed with this product.

Digital camera Review: Linksys Ain't What it Used To Be
Summary: 1 Stars

I have used Linksys products for many years. I still have an 802.11B Linksys router (BEFW11S4) that I am now using to post this review after my WRT150N died inexplicably. I have always liked Linksys equipment because it has been simple and easy to use, and very reliable. Unfortunately, that appears to no longer be the case.

Since Cisco purchased Linksys, I have noticed a sharp decline in ease of use, quality, and reliability. Linksys routers used to be so simple and easy to set up. You didn't even need an installation disk or software; just plug in your computer and use the browser to set it up. But now they come with an installation CD that looks really impressive with fancy graphics and pretty pictures, but does nothing except waste your time since the manual set up method is about 10x faster.

And Linksys reliability has also apparently suffered. I've had this router for about a year and it is now useful only as a door-stop. It is completely and utterly dead. It responds to nothing. After a year of working okay (still required more reboots and care than my 10 year old Linksys 802.11B router), I came home yesterday and it was just totally unresponsive. Even the reset button that will reset everything to factory defaults is totally unresponsive. All the lights work fine, but it won't connect to the Internet or to any of my devices. And since it will not connect to a computer, I cannot access the admin site to try and upgrade the firmware or try any other configuration changes. I've spent the last day and a half trying to revive this router with no luck. I've read the manual from front to back and scoured online help for hours, and nothing has worked.

I hope Linksys regains their quality and reliability, but the WRT150N demonstrates that they need work in these areas. If you want a router that will last several years, do not get this one.

Digital camera Review: Linksys N Home Router is Great!
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a technician set my router up, but later had to contact Linksys because I needed to set up my wireless printer and Linksys was great. In retrospect, I think I could have done the initial set up myself w Linksys' support. Great product, great reception and transmission all over the condo, and great customer support.
