Digital camera reviews of Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Home Router with 4-Port Switch Mimo

Digital camera Review: Great performance, until it crashes...
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this product sometime this week, but only until yesterday morning I got a chance to install it. They insist to boredom to use their CD, which installs poorly made software in your PC (which is a shame since their web UI is fantastic). Everything worked perfectly, I plugged my laptop and my desktop, and while navigating online... in less than 30 minutes, the router crashed completely, both wired and wireless. Recycled it, 15 minutes later, again. I was not using any high-bandwidth program, just reading some news. At this point, I simply went back to my good old dlink. Today I found several posts at linksys forums, and the problem seems to be widespread, and little acknowledged (Amazon does not allow links, but look up 'WRT150N locks up denies access').

The problem appears to be caused by Linksys' lack of support for Clearwire, or other Wi-Max (or pseudo Wi-Max) modems. Unfortunately, I am stuck with them for 2 years, so I have no option but to return this product.

While I am a big fan of Cisco, and to some extent of Linksys, I took my lesson: I will be more cautious about quality issues with this brand going forward.

Digital camera Review: Great product, HORRIBLE tech support!
Summary: 2 Stars

Don't mistake the review, this product gets 5 stars, but buyer beware at their tech support behind it all, that deserves 2 stars!

Randy W. (15502): It seems that you don't want to be help here and you know more than I do.
Randy W. (15502): You neglect to listen.
Randy W. (15502): That's the problem here.

Just part of the horrible 4 hour experience with tech support. 2 phone calls (over 1 hour that including wait time and talk time only to have them tell me they would call back because there wasn't a tech available, I received no such call back) and 3 attempts at their online chat server with 3 different technicians.

After all that was settled, our network runs seemless (1 wireless laptop and 1 wired desktop, on the process of adding 2 more laptops). Our desktop is for everyday use but our laptop is for heavy "World of Warcraft" gaming. I have no complaints, super fast speeds and no dead spots (we live in a pretty spacious 2 bedroom condo). I love the product, simply detest their tech support! If you're able to put up with it, it's a great buy, highly recommended!

Digital camera Review: Great router as long as you know how to set it up.
Summary: 5 Stars

Everyone talks about how it has reliability issues and how it will not say connected. I have had this for over 3 years and its is great. You need to know how to open ports for gaming and such for it to work at its peak performance. You can find this info on youtube if you have problems with xbox live or any other devices. All in all, its a great modem for those that know how to set it up.

Digital camera Review: Great router, but instructions/software not good
Summary: 4 Stars

Was having issues getting my wireless desktop/laptop connected. I finally came across a post here that suggested a updated software fix called EasyFix [...].

After following the directions and installing the software, it fixed all my issues and now I have a stable connection on all computers.. great performing router.. previously had a Linksys B, this is a stepup for sure and smaller as well.

Digital camera Review: Great router, but not for multilevel/older homes.
Summary: 4 Stars

This has been one of the easiest routers to set up and work with. My issue with it is its signal output. Regardless of playing with the built in antenna (big problem for this little router--yep...not removable), I can't get signal to the other side of the house.
The house I have is an old colonial (135 yrs old)--brick and plaster, lots of doors and hallways, three floors. Access point is on one side of the house and cannot be moved. I can get the signal to travel vertically down 2 floors, but cannot get it to travel 30 feet to the front of the house on the same floor. Something to keep in mind if you are planning out your network. It may be better to have a router with removable antennae or else create relays by reconfiguring routers.
But don't get me wrong, this device does work well. Easy setup. No problems if you want to configure game traffic to specific ports and setup gaming servers. I just wish the antennae were removable so I could put a booster on.
