Digital camera reviews of Logitech 720p Webcam Pro 9000Digital camera Review: A great recommendation Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for the best webcam out there for around $50 and found this one for just over 60. Cnet strongly recommended it. I've bought four so far for myself and my family (I'm due to go to Iraq soon) and it's been great. The high quality microphone is what really surprised me, which is good because videoconferencing and online phone capabilities through Yahoo are what I've ended up using the camera most for. The camera auto-focuses and is rated at 2MP and works great. Unless the $60 price tag is just too much for you, I can't see any reason not to highly recommend this webcam. Did I mention the innovative and perfectly designed stand/bracket that lets you put it on almost any surface or monitor/laptop at just the right angle? It's great.

Digital camera Review: A great webcam! Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this camera exclusively for video calls on Skype to folks in several small villages in Austria and major metropolitan areas in Germany. Have used this webcam extensively the last 20 months on Ubuntu Linux 8.04, Windows XP, the Windows 7 Beta and the W7 Release Candidate. It perches nicely on a laptop screen during use and other flat screen displays. On a CRT display, it would just "sit' there and could possible slide off. It is very durable. My grandson is constantly reaching for it and knocking it around during Skype sessions.
Software included with the camera provides for streaming and narrating photos in place of your video from the web cam...a very nice feature. This webcam seems to work best with the latest versions of Skype (Vers 4.0 and later) using the SILK codec. The webcam is optimized for Windows allowing for HQ video transmission over Skype. Skype automatically enables the 9000's HQ video capability when network conditions permit.
HQ video over Skype is not attainable with the Linux Ubuntu operating system. In Windows framerates of 30 fps at 640x480 resolution (HQ mode) are attainable both ways if your contact is using the same camera with computers with a dual core processor and both parties are using a high bandwidth internet connection. Even my contacts in Austria claim the video quality to be "like TV" when network conditions permit, although technically speaking, TV is better.
Have recommended this webcam to 5 others who bought it and all are astonished at the video quality. The current Amazon price is less than the $75 I paid for it. Several of those 5 bought lesser webcams to "save" money first and then bought the 9000 anyway. Don't waste your money with lesser webcams. I you want quality video for Skype this is the webcam for you. If you experience difficulties in Skype video calls, it will most likely NOT be this webcam's fault! Network conditions on the internet, your computer and the way your home network is set up if you run more than one computer on the network at the same time will most likely be the culprits.
For now, the webcam works best in XP. In Windows 7, have experienced not being able to show photos in place of video OR audio will drop out when the photos are streamed. This is most likely a driver issue, a Windows 7/Skype compatibility issue that will be resolved in future driver/Skype updates and NOT a problem with the camera. Otherwise, video transmission in W7 is downright beautiful! Get the webcam and enjoy!
Digital camera Review: A huge upgrade from my old Logitech camera... :) Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I will vouch for anything Logitech. I am not saying this because I am a vine member, but because I have a lot of things that are Logitech, and they are all great products (including microphones and keyboards). The only thing I was disappointed in from Logitech was my old webcam the "Pro 5000". Maybe I was just disillusioned because I thought it would work like a real camera, but either way it didn't perform up to snuff for the price I paid for it (its retail was $80.00).
When I received the "QuickCam Pro 9000" I was very leery because of my past experience (right or wrong). I read the fancy description of the box about its lenses being designed by Carl Zeiss. He is makes lenses for space exploration, so I thought "Well, maybe this is higher quality than my last one..." However, I was not holding out hope.
As usual the set-up was very simple; just put in the disc and install the Logitech software and then plug in the webcam. So, I did that and then started using the camera immediately. I am sad to say that I didn't think it was a whole lot better than the Pro 5000, except a couple details.
1. The sound quality is far better than it was on the Pro 5000. Things were a little bit better synchronized with my face and it just picked up my voice better overall.
2. The picture quality is less grainy. The picture quality on this camera is top-notch, not at all grainy like the Pro 5000. I was very much impressed with the visual quality of the ProCam 9000 .
I wish I could've taken back my old camera and paid the extra $20.00 because the sound quality and picture quality are that much better on the Pro9000. The other features on this one are basically the same as their other cameras because it comes with the same software is the other camera. Still, if you are looking for a decent webcam that is $100.00 or less, I would say that you cannot go wrong with this one.
God Bless & *enjoy* ~Amy
Digital camera Review: A sturdy and very awesome web cm Summary: 5 Stars
The Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 is known as the latest version of the previous model known as the Fusion (which received positive ratings). With a lot of webcams available that offer night vision report, I actually scoured various review sites because I wanted a camera that would be beneficial for me to lifecast on justin.tv and ustream.tv. I needed a webcam that a) would be durable b) would be perfect for low light conditions c) to generate great quality. After using this webcam for narly a month now, I am very pleased. The quality is awesome. The Logitech software is very cool and you can download even more special effects online. I use my PC laptop but will need to test it on my Mac on OS 10.5 (Leopard) ala Maccam. Superwebcam works well. Will test it with Camtwist soon. But all in all, this is one of the best webcams to get for its price range. I know many of you will want to spend on the Fusion which came out years before and it's a great cam, but spend a little more for the QuickCam Pro 9000. You won't be disappointed.
