Webcams are for two purposes... a visual and audible way to connect with others. For the most part, the audio part is pretty simple because sound does not need much bandwidth to transmit. The part that mot webcams struggle with is the visual aspect. And by far, this is the webcam with the highest video quality I have seen.
It isn't so much the resolution of the camera, which this has down pact with its ability to get up to a high definition quality of video, but the ability to show color well in poor lighting conditions (which is often in an office environment) and focus on its target. It is all three of these abilities that the camera does well and which puts it in a class above everything else.
It isn't just for video conferencing or instant messaging, either. I have it set to record motion so I can see who has visited me while I'm away and it does this job wonderfully! I can also use it to record short little video emails to send to friends and family to add a personal touch when communicating over the Internet. And I'm sure I am barely scratching the surface on what this guy can do.
If you are looking for a webcam, I'd highly suggest this one. Not only does it do everything you need to do but at much lower than a hundred bucks, the price is fantastic to boot.

The Logitech quickcam Pro9000 is amazing. The sound clarity, and video quality are stunning. We chat with folks back home in India and there is no time-lag. I have seen previous versions of Logitech cams and Microsoft products. This Pro 9000 stands out. I paid $[...] for it from Amazon but now they are offering a $[...] rebate if purchased between 11/25 and 12/1/2008.
At $[...] this is a steal. The Carl Zeiss optics makes a difference. The software has cool features like face recognition, tilt-n-zoom where you do not need to touch the cam to tilt or zoom. Overall, FIVE STAR product.
Will work for both laptop screens and desktop ones.

The product its amazing the back support of the cam dont fit my 24" LCD but fit my 19" LCD. The brighness is awesome and have HD function with lens moments via software. Its more clear than my HD camcorder. Im very happy with this purchase. The install is easy and the sound recording its very good too. The site have many efects and upgrades. This camera has changed my perspective on grainy webcams. I have never had a poor video quality problem with this product. I enjoy using it to communicate with friends/family around the world.
Image wise, it compares to most pocket cams on the market.
Audio wise, its crisp and clear, and it picks up the slightest noises. It captures the audible fans on my computer case, which is located 4 feet away under the desk!
I have a windows 7 64 bit ultimate OS and it runs fine. Prior to my upgrade, I had vista 64 and it was plug and play as well.
This is definitely a great investment for someone who enjoys keeping in touch with people/ uses conferencing software for business. It's small and well built.
