I am not sure how this crashed Mr Smith's computer but let me say this.The software that comes on the disc cannot be loaded into Windows Xp 64bit.
There is no mention of this and unless you take the time to chase some drivers and software on the Logitech site you will soon be returning this to your retailer.
I was determined not to use a Logitech web cam again because of the problems I had getting my previous webcam to work.
However after getting sucked in by all the great reviews I decided to bypass the Microsoft product,which by the way does come with 64 bit drivers and I was turned off my original idea of getting a model from Creative after it picked up a lot of negative comments.
Things never change,the software after downloading may take you two or three reinstalls before it finally decides to work and even then it managers to loose the usb occassionally after restarting which means you have to remove the usb and then reconnect.
A couple of gimmicks are fun including the Avatar choices.
if you are having a bad hair day then you can use the Avatar which mimmicks most of your facialexpressions.
As for the cam itself, yes it is the best I have seen and as everyone knows it is because of the use of a glass lens that gives these superior results.The use of the Rightsound and Rightlight2 technology works wonders.
I would just leave it set on auto with face tracking off and white balance set to does a better job than a manual white balance adjustment.Rightlight2 brightens the darkest conditions and surprised me at how well it actually works.
Highly recommended from me,but girls,make sure you wear some makeup when using this one it is that good.

My only experience with web cams are those that came built into my Toshiba Netbbok and my daughter's boyfriends Notebook computer...This cam is heads and shoulders above those two. Clearest by far.. I found the video quality not acceptable. I have a Sony camera from 7 years ago that works as well (as far as quality). The Logitech simply has more "fun" features.
