Digital camera reviews of Logitech 980158-0403 Internet Chat HeadsetDigital camera Review: A very under rated headset Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this headset quite a few times. I bought it twice in the past 5 years. Hands down it is one of the best headsets that you can own for the price of under 30 dollars.
The Pros:
Behind the head configuration is great. Probably like a lot of people I find that the over the head style of headset to be dated and annoying. There is nothing more annoying than feeling the headset on top of your head. It feels comfortable on the ear even for long time use which for me would be 2-5 hours with them on. Little to no irritation behind the ear or ache from sitting against them.
Sound output quality is amazing. I have tried a handful of other headsets in the same price range and nothing comes close to the quality that I have come to enjoy from this headset. For the money that you pay the quality is great.
Mic quality is equally amazing. Clear voice pickup and input quality. The mic comes to just about the corner of my mouth and the mic arm is fully bendable and can be bent to how you want it positioned near your mouth.
Mic toggle and volume wheel. These are a must for me. I play games with my buddies online and use Teamspeak or Ventrilo. Turning up and down the volume as well as silencing my mic is really a must.
Nice long and flexible cord.
Changeable plates for the headset. This was an awesome feature to me on my first purchase of the headset. I usually kept it on the default black but sometimes I like to wear some orange or red. :P
The Dirty Cons:
The only con I found with this headset is with the little volume control and mic toggle. As I said I have owned two of these headsets in the past 5 years. When one broke it was always at the little control box. More specifically the volume wheel. Over time One side of your headset will start cutting out and you have to play with the wheel a bit to get it to come back and later it will stop working completely. This is mostly brought on by being too rough with this headset and wear overtime. Yanking on the cord will cause this problem to arise. If you are a person who is rough on their things, this is not the headset for you.
Digital camera Review: Absolute junk. Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this headset hoping that it would last me for a little while.
But the mic stopped working within a week. I should have followed the recommendations and not bought this piece of junk or colorfull piece of junk which they provide as an add-on.
Don't buy it.
Digital camera Review: Affordable, reliable, and comfortable Summary: 4 Stars
I own two of these -- one that I use for podcasting/Skype at the office, and one that I use for online gaming/Skype at home. I've been extremely pleased with both. The light weight makes them comfortable for several hours of use (I've gone a good five or six hours without taking them off -- and not feeling like I needed to) and the flexible boom mic stays out of the way, yet picks up my voice without me needing to talk any louder than a normal speaking volume. I've traveled with these with no problem, and the inline mute/volume has been a lifesaver on many podcasts.
The foam earpieces are essential but have worn away and fallen off, after which the headphones are understandably no longer comfortable to wear. I'd like to buy replacement foam pads, but they're not available. That's truly my only negative to an excellent value and some comfortable, reliable tech.
Digital camera Review: All I Could Have Wished For...With Two Exceptions Summary: 4 Stars
I've been using this headset for the past few days, and I like everything about it with the exception of a few small details.
Pros:
-No ear irritation! Finally! A headset that doesn't irritate the top/back of your ears! I have big and awkward ears, but there's more than enough room for your ears to fit through for hours of easy wear. I can't say the same for any other similar headset I've tried.
-Sound quality better than expected. This definitely does not sound like one of those el cheapo knock-off brand headsets
-In-line Volume and microphone mute works great and has a smooth volume dial operation, unlike what other reviewers have said.
-Cord is long enough for me to move around the room
-Cool snap-cover colors
Cons:
-No lapel clip. I would like to have had a lapel clip so I can keep the cable close to my body instead of having it dangle in front of it
-Flex-boom microphone only comes 2/3rds of the way to the mouth. While the microphone is sensitive enough to pick up the sound of your voice anyway, I would have like to have had the microphone stop in front of the mouth. Especially for those moments where you'd rather whisper into the microphone without others around you hearing.
Digital camera Review: Alright device for the casual user. Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased these to use on my Mac G4 and on my gaming PC. What a great time to learn that Macs don't come with a microphone pick-up installed on the sound board. No biggie. There are plenty of devices that will enable analog mics to work on Macs.
The headset was exactly what I was expecting for the price. Not too terrible, but not that great either. The microphone is bottom dollar. Even though it has nice pick-up, the receipient of your voice chat will notice the low grade of audio. The headphones themselves are also mundane. The sound is hollow with little to no highs or lows. Definately not a solution for music or emmersive gaming.
What I will say about this little device is they are extremely comfortable and light weight. The band wraps around the back of your head and the "phones" rest right on your ears. The mic is very adjustable. The over all design is stylish.
This head set is more than adequate for the casual voice chatter. Works fine with all the major voice messenger programs. However, if your wanting to use them for long periods at a time and quite frequently, you will be sorely disappointed.
