Digital camera Review: Good buy, Less pain in the neck
Summary: 5 Stars

After doing much research over the net for a suitable laptop stand, I decided to get the Alto 3 months ago at double the price it is today. The product is great, works flawlessly. I connect my IBM Thinkpad to the Alto and have an external monitor set up at the same angle. This provides an excellent work area and there is no neck strain of any sort. Before purchasing this product, I had to crouch, stoop, do all kinds of acrobatics to get the perfect viewing angle and in return get a neck strain.

The Alto is perfect for people who want to have a comfortable working environment at home or office. With the attached 3 USB ports and the 2 ( roughly) ports that you get from your laptop, you would be able to connect all your external devices like HDD, phones, speakers etc.

Cons:
Have to buy a wireless mouse seperately. The Logitech wireless ones complement perfectly. For under 80$ you can get a seamless, pain-free work setup. Go for it!

Digital camera Review: Great (for the price)
Summary: 5 Stars

I was worried this stand would not fit my wide screen Dell Studio XPS 16 notebook as it is a very wide (and heavy) notebook. The stand works great. I am a grad student and spend many many hours reading journal articles from the screen and this stand make it so much more comfortable. Yes the front lip of the laptop is obscured but luckily my notebook has nothing but lights on the front panel.
As the stand angles the notebook speakers directly at me it also has also made a very modest improvement to the sound.
The keyboard is nice to use, not the greatest but solid and a good feel to the keys. I normally buy keyboard with all the bell and whistles and never use any of the extra features. However, now I push my notebook further away so having access to the media keys are great.
All in all, for the discounted price of $36 I am over the moon with this purchase. My star rating reflects the price I paid for the stand.

Update 2010-07-31: Liked working on this so much I bought a 2nd for my office desk.

Digital camera Review: Great Laptop Ergonomics Solution, plus so much more!
Summary: 5 Stars

I used to spend every day at my desk, hunched over my laptop in an effort to see the screen clearly. After some years my back started to hurt every day from this and it affected my posture when standing as well. This product has put my laptop right where a screen should be, and this has naturally corrected my posture while sitting at my desk.

PRO'S:
Easiest product I've ever installed, and I've worked in IT for a decade. No software needed; I put the batteries in the keyboard, plugged in the power to the stand, connected the single USB cord to my Dell Inspiron 1720 running Vista, and that was it. I didn't have to configure ANYTHING; didn't have to press a SINGLE button; it just worked instantly. Props to Logitech for creating the most effortless peripheral set-up I've ever experienced.

The keyboard is high quality, light but sturdy, with the type of soft-cushion typing resistance and solid build you'd expect from one of those pricey high-end product. The keyboard response while typing matches that of a wired keyboard (using natural perception). Key placement is pretty standard, except for the home/end/pgup/pgdwn/delete keys. If you are used to touch-typing with these, just be aware those have been move around a bit.

The little 3-port powered USB 2.0 hub at the rear-right of the stand is very convenient and would be great for users that have been stuck with a stand-alone hub to integrate their multiple USB peripherals.

The battery feature on the keyboard, when pressed, will display a colored light indicating the current charge state of the batteries (x2 disposable AAA's).

High quality rubberized padding is used on the keyboard wrist pad, as well as on the bottom of the stand itself, to grip your laptop's base. This provides enough friction to accommodate a 17" widescreen laptop (like mine) without any slippage. The base is also wide enough for a 17" (a perfect fit in fact), and doesn't suffer from the "fat man in a little jacket" syndrome like so many other accessories that are only 15" specific do.

There is a good range on the wireless keyboard; at least 25-30ft if you have line of sight with the stand (couldn't move it back any further in my office).

CON'S:
If I want to close my laptop all the way (I do this to keep dust out, turn off the screen, etc, when not in use), it requires me to lift the base up slightly so I can get the release-button (mounted on the top edge of the screen) past the lip of the stand. If your screen edge is fully flush with the edge of your laptop base (when closed), you may experience this minor inconvenience as well.

The Alto keyboard uses disposable batteries. I know, I could go purchase 2 rechargeable AAA's and a charger, but it would be great if there had been a built-in rechargeable solution; or at least a corded option... I mean really, how hard would an optional cord have been?! If you are a gamer, you may suffer from the same paranoia as I do when using this keyboard: "Are my batteries about to die!?!"

Depending on the location of your I/O ports, the attached rubberized wire management system may be nearly useless. I have my Ethernet, Firewire, VGA, etc, coming out of the right side of my laptop, and the cords don't go anywhere near the rear-right of the stand, where the management system is located. Great idea, but won't work for all users.

OTHER THOUGHTS:
After using this for a bit, I started to wonder why I don't just get a larger stand-alone monitor, hook it to my laptop, and retract the elevation arm on the Alto stand so the laptop can lay flat with its lid closed. This would basically turn it into a docking station with a wireless keyboard... sweet!
Amazing product over all; I would recommend it to anyone.

Digital camera Review: Great Notebook Stand
Summary: 5 Stars

The notebook stand is sturdy, attractive and easy to set up. The keyboard has a nice touch and stores upside down on the stand when the notebook is not on the stand. The 3 built in USB ports are externally powered so they do not take power from the notebook computer. Using an external USB mouse is enhanced through use of the built in USB ports.

Clean design, easy to use and functional.

Highly recommended.

Digital camera Review: Great Notebook Stand!
Summary: 5 Stars

Was looking for a Notebook stand to help raise my laptop screen up to eye level and hopefully improve my posture because of it.

Bought this at less than $20. I can honestly say this is one of the best "value for money" items I've bought from Amazon. Very sturdy construction, sleek design, and the extra USB ports on the stand are so useful. The keyboard is comfortable and very responsive. The only real downsides to this is that you can't adjust the height of the stand and the keyboard keys could've been more tactile and less spongy.

But overall, this is a great notebook stand and I highly recommend it.
