Digital camera reviews of Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB Headset H390 (Black)

Digital camera Review: Could not get to work with Windows XP
Summary: 1 Stars

This headset did work with my vista system but I could not get it to work with my XP system. I would get the message driver not found. Logitech support was no help at all (they directed me to Windows support).

Digital camera Review: Dead after two months
Summary: 2 Stars

Bought 3 of these for co-workers and myself. Two are still working, and one is defective. Windows cannot detect it, which, after a brief web search means the headset is toast. Time to go see if Logitech's warranty is any good.

In terms of usability, the padding is nice but doesn't really help cancel out noise, since it doesn't cover the ears. Sound/call quality seems good, but mic is really sensitive. I would recommend giving this headphone a pass.

Digital camera Review: Decent Headset
Summary: 4 Stars

The headset for the most part was pretty good. It was very comfortable, the USB connection was cool. The only problem I have with mine is, I can not control the volume from the switch on the cord, the mute button works, but not the volume. I have to go into volume control and set the volume level there. Pain. Other than that great headset.

Digital camera Review: Decent Headset, Good Price
Summary: 3 Stars

It's not super comfortable, and the sound is not amazing, but it's a pretty good value for the great price.

It's a bit tight, but I have a big head, and there is not a ton of padding like on some headsets.

The headset is fairly lightweight, so it shouldn't give you neck cramps.

The sound is pretty good -- not the best I've ever heard, but decent.

The only complaint I have is if you use your headset fairly often, expect to be replacing it once every 2-3 months or so. This time could increase if you don't use yours as often, or if you take excellent care of your headset.

Digital camera Review: Decent USB Headset (Works well with Mac. Not perfect with Skype)
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this USB headset to chat on Skype for mac MacBook Pro.

TIPS for SETTING UP on a MAC
The USB headset is automatically recognized, but you will still need to change some settings to hear and input your voice. Go to the System Preferences and select Sound controls. Click on the OUTPUT button and select "Logitech USB Headset" to be able to hear audio through the headset. Click on the INPUT button select "Logitech USB Headset" to be able to speak through the headset's mic. This seems to be a one time setting. When you unplug the headset, your Mac will return to the default settings (like playing audio through your speakers). The next time you reconnect this headset to your Mac, you do not need to access the System Preferences/Sound control again.

AUDIO QUALITY
This was decent but not great. I did a sample recording of my voice using Audacity. My voice was clear but not completely natural. There doesn't seem to be enough bass/timbre and instead sounds a bit piercing.

Audio quality is worse when you use Skype since you have the background static sound. This is true even when you talk to Echo (which is the Skype computer assistant which records your voice so you can check sound quality).

This wasn't a busy traffic night for Skype either. It was a normal weekday call to a friend who is also in the US.

DO YOU NEED THIS?
If you're using a computer with a built-in mic, such as a MacBook Pro or maybe a recent iMac, you might not need this at all. The friend I was talking to on Skype also was using a MacBook Pro. He didn't need to use a USB headset at all. One handy feature is the push button located on the wire. By pressing it, you can mute your voice. This isn't as quick to do without using a USB headset.

BUILD QUALITY
This USB headset is a good value. The quality is good for its price. It's light weight, the ear cushions are comfortable, and the mic swivels out of the way when you want to listen only.
