Digital camera reviews of Logitech ClearChat Comfort/USB Headset H390 (Black)Digital camera Review: Decent for the money Summary: 4 Stars
for the price it works just perfect. usb connection is always nice and i dig the volume control on the cable. could be abit more padding on top and it'd be nice if you didnt have to always wear it one way. microphone always has to be on the left of your face, cant switch it around.
Digital camera Review: Decent product, just 3 minor suggestions Summary: 4 Stars
High quality, well made, sounds nice.
Worked flawlessly, with no driver needed, on MacBook Pro and 2010 Aluminum Mac mini, both running Snow Leopard. Shows up in audio controls as named Logitech device.
Three wishes:
1: In the photo, in the middle of the cable, I saw the round knob and *thought* it was a retractable cable holder, like on many other portable devices. It isn't, it's just a volume control. In all fairness, the description never claimed that it was, I just thought it was, and it would be cool if it was.
So these headphones are not particularly portable. They're well made, so a bit large, and a substantial cable. But for a desktop setup, they're very nice.
2: The USB connection is very long, longer than most other USB devices. I haven't measured, but seems like maybe 3 inches sticking out from the side of the laptop. Not terrible, but wish it didn't stick out so much or would maybe fold down.
3: Just FYI, the Microphone only folds down when worn on the left side of the head. This is fine for me, and correct for stereo left/right usage. But other headsets do give the option of using the mic on either side.
Digital camera Review: Decent quality while it lasted Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this headset about a year ago. The sound quality is okay, the microphone is great. The ear pads start to hurt your ears after a couple of hours. Unfortunately, mine no longer works. I gave it a tug today as I was reaching for something and the wire feeding into the "in-line volume control" came loose. The sound no longer works now. I am upset at how easily these wires come loose. This is my second headset in about a year and a half (first one was a GE). Can't anyone build a more durable product?! I'm not up to paying for a wireless headset cause the technology isn't great yet. Come on! Can't a person buy a headset that lasts without flimsy components?!
Digital camera Review: Decent, but uncomfortable Summary: 3 Stars
I've always loved Logitech. My first headset ever was an absolutely incredible model which sadly I forgot the name of. Anyway, I wore it out after a while of very heavy usage and bought another. Ended up breaking 3 pairs. (I realize that this is usually a warning sign to stop buying them, but it should show how great it was while it lasted.) Anyway, I bought a pair of these as a replacement, hoping they'd be higher quality and better in the long run.
The result was.. ehhhh.
These headphones have good voice chat quality. You can hear everything quite well, and there is little to no static. Even music sounds pretty good, if not a bit flat. The microphone is fair, not as good as some other pairs I have used, which is somewhat disappointing when you note the price of these headphones.
The killing blow to these headphones is just how uncomfortable they are. Rigid design with horrible pads make these a burden to wear after even an hour.
So all in all, sound quality is pretty good, mic is decent, but I'd probably prefer to tape squirming guinea pigs to my head than wear these.
Digital camera Review: Design and reliability needs some work Summary: 2 Stars
This product broke within the first week of use. The switch that changes volume got jammed in the "increase" position, so my volume was always maxed while the headset was plugged in. I will has to find time to return it.
The other problem is that the volume control switch also switches the microphone on/off. Often while trying to adjust the volume I would inadvertently turn the mic off.
