Digital camera Review: 3 out of 5 didn't work
Summary: 2 Stars

I am the IT person for my company. We are a large company that supports over 100 laptops. Out of 5 of these Logitech keyboard/mouse combos that we have purchased in the past three months, only 2 have installed and worked satisfactorily.

We are using them on Dell laptops that have built in Bluetooth. Been running into endless problems with device just not being recognized, keyboard having to be constantly re-connected to the pc, security codes having to be rentered.

Logitech support is less then helpful. As soon as you tell them that you are using the built-in bluetooth on your laptop and not the dongle that they supply, it's immediately an "out" for the Logitech support person to wash their hands of the problem. "You need to use it with our supplied bluetooth external chip"--end of conversation. To which I reply that Bluetooth is a universal standard and should work with ANY chip--internal or external. And if you have a laptop there is nothing more vulnerable then that external bluetooth dongle hanging out of a USB port all exposed.

I recommend getting the Dell Bluetooth keyboard and mouse combo (Dell item #310-7990). Not only are these cheaper at $89 but my department has setup 10 of them and they work like a charm!

Digital camera Review: A great companion for a computer hooked to an HDTV!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this wireless desktop to use with my PC that I hooked to a 46" Sony LCD HDTV. I am setting on my sofa and typing this using this product. I would not have bought this product for the office because the Bluetooth range would be an overkill in my opinion. In addition, this can be used with a Sony PlayStation 3 since the PS3 has a built in Bluetooth adapter!

The keyboard takes AA batteries. I am using Duracell for the last three months and still has 50% left. The mouse uses a built in battery and can be charged using the Logitech charging station that comes with this keyboard. They mouse last me 14 days.

PROS
* Uses Bluetooth, which has a very good range around the house.
* very responsive. Never lost keystrokes.
* Can be used with a PS3 as well (unlike RF or 2.4ghz based products)
* Mouse has a battery indicator. Keyboard has a neat little LCD that shows some useful info. I keep it showing the date and time in my case.
* Keyboard has customizable buttons, and buttons to open IE, Word, Excel...etc.

CONS or SUGGESTIONS
* not very good for left handed people since the mouse is designed for the right hand
* I wish the mouse can be charged using USB power
* The keys in the keyboard could have been designed in a more contemporary way.

FINAL THOUGHTS
A great product for your HTPC hooked to your HDTV. One of my best purchases and I am happy with it. This product has been well worth the money!

Digital camera Review: A very serious and almost fatal flaw
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought the MX 5500 revolution from amazon on Nov 2008 and i really liked it. originally i planned on giving this 5 stars but a couple of days ago i tried to charge my mouse using the included base charger. The mouse unfortunately did not want to charge no matter how many times i tried, with the mouse ON or OFF it didn't matter. there's a battery charge indicator on the mouse and when it's charging the 3 battery bars go up then clears and the bars go up again until the battery is finally charged. Well my charge indicator on the mouse kept blinking red indicating an error which by no means is normal.
Here's a link that shows you the exact problem that i was having:

[...]

The mouse uses a built in rechargeable battery so unfortunately there is no way of replacing the battery and if this happens to you there's no way of charging it after the battery dies. so you either replace the item or try to fix it.
Here's a link that shows you the problem and solution:

Now as you can see this not something that MOST of us would even want to do if our product is still on warranty. we would just send it back and get a replacement.
But the warranty doesn't cover us for too long and eventually if it happens you're either stuck with a dead mouse or you try the fix.
but no matter how great a product is we as consumers should not have to put up with this problem and we should therefor judge it accordingly. 1 Star!

*******UPDATED 13TH OCTOBER 2010*******
I found that cleaning the contacts on the mouse and base with rubbing alcohol reduces the problem but not entirely. Sometimes i might have to try it 5 or 6 times before it starts to charge. I lot of times i thought it charged and left for the day only to return to a dead mouse.
Also, anyone having the problem should not let the battery on the mouse go dead because thats when the problem arises. It puts more stress on the battery and the base uses more volts to fully charge it. It's really annoying when i have to try it over and over before it finally starts to charge.
So, as soon as your battery bar hits one bar, charge it! Don't let it die on you. Updated my rating to 3 stars.

Digital camera Review: AWESOME!
Summary: 5 Stars

Super-fast response time. Low-noise keyboard. Best-ever shaped mouse with every possible function. Bought this to replace Logitech's top-end model from 5 year's ago. I was disappointed that I needed to get a new one because I wasn't sure I would get to keep all the functions. But this model has even more to offer. The mouse fits the hand perfectly and holds its charge for longer than I can sit in front of a computer... and it stills works the next day when the kids leave it out of the charger overnight. And Bluetooth is always worth the extra money.
My only complaint is that the letters on the keyboard are in an unusual font which confuses my aged eyeballs sometimes.

Digital camera Review: Almost Perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

This keyboard and mouse desktop has so many good things about it, such as the ultra quiet keys, the soft wrist rest, and even the built-in calculator - I haven't even used all of its many features. The mouse feels great in the hand (although I'm glad I'm not left handed!) and the scroll wheel can really speed through a page. The only thing I don't like is the fact that you have to take up one of your USB ports for the bluetooth receiver, or whatever it is. I never understood why that was necessary, when I have bluetooth built into my laptop, but this set won't run without it. Nevertheless, I'm happy with this desktop and with the price I paid as well - about half of what Best Buy wanted.

I recommend buying this set, but keep in mind that you will have to devote a USB port to use it.
