Digital camera reviews of Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Bluetooth Mouse and KeyboardDigital camera Review: Excellent product, excellent support, beware of ZoneAlarm Summary: 5 Stars
I own this product for three months, and found it excellent. It has many nice features, very reliable. It doesn't have any interference (unlike my previus Logitech mouse and keyboard) with the other devices, although it's plugged in in the back of my computer, quite far away from keyboard. The keys are very soft.
But first I had a problem. As soon as I installed MX 5500, the keyboard and mouse started to work immediately, but not as they should. The keyboard didn't display the date and time, and the program interface was missing some tabs, including My Mouse and My Keyboard.
So I contacted techsupport by e-mail. They responded quickly and tried to help, but nothing worked. Finally I called them (I was on hold for only couple of minutes), and they said that it was probably a defective product and sent me a new one, without even asking me to return mine!
The new one had the same issue. So I decided to use it the way it was, since in general everything worked, I just couldn't configure it and there was no date and time on the screen.
But recently I found out that there was nothing wrong with the product. The problem was with ZoneAlarm Security suite that I have installed on my computer. Although I was disabling it (as well as the other startup programs) when I was installing the software, it wasn't good enough. The latest update for ZoneAlarm Security Suite (7.1.254.000 for Vista) had been released mainly to fix incompatibility with the Logitech products. As soon as I installed it - the problem immediately disappeared.
So I'm very pleased with this product and Logitech support. But if you have ZoneAlarm - be sure to update it to the latest version.
Digital camera Review: Fantastic Deal and the item itself Summary: 5 Stars
I am using this ever since I received it. Keybord is very comfortable and is super fast and easy to use with great comfort.
Digital camera Review: Finally reliable connectivity for a Keyboard Mouse combo Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned several Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse bundles and had such bad experiences that I swore also that I would never again amke this kind of purchase. But since the technolgy has changed a bit over the years since I thought I would give it another try. So I did and my experiences have been awesome. Finally I can type without a delay and what I type will appear right away. Always missed the first letter to what I typed. NOT ANYMORE!
Bluetooth on this model at least is reliable and I recomend this to others now. Way to go logitech.
My only dislike is that the keyboard has a calculator button that uses the display on the keyboard as the calculator, not the Windows calculator. It should have been made customizable to the OS Calculator.
Digital camera Review: Found a cordless desktop I heart Summary: 5 Stars
I was originally using the Logitech MX-500 wireless desktop - I wanted a mouse that I could recharge without popping batteries, and it worked well to that end. The mouse wasn't comfortable, I ended up hot-gluing some foam to the right side of the mouse. The plastic wrist rest on the keyboard lasted about 6 months before snapping off.
No, this isn't a review about the MX-500, but I wanted to state where I was coming from before getting to the real review:
The MX 5500 has been exactly what I've wanted for years. The mouse is as comfortable the first moment as it is hours later of continual use. The battery meter gives a better sense of the battery's health than an LED that changes from one color to another when it's critical. And, it charges in a base without popping batteries!
The keyboard is...pretty nice. I wish it had a volume dial instead of 2 quirky buttons (sometimes when I press to lower the volume once, it lowers all the way. Sometimes I press once to raise it, it goes to 100% immediately). I also wish it stayed on the screen I selected (I tend to like seeing the temperature, maybe it's new toy syndrome, but it doesn't stay there when I come back the next day). The fact that it needs 4 batteries was a surprise, but not an irritating one (I'm using NiZn batteries, and they seem to last better than NiMH, and nothing has blown up yet, so yay).
A word of warning, do not plug the USB Bluetooth adaptor into any part of the computer you have to walk past. I dinged it once with my foot, and luckily there was no damage, but I imagine this thing would be easy to bend or snap if it were hit hard enough. In the back of the computer, where only the spiders live, it's been much, much happier.
The price was a bit higher than I'd expect, but on the whole, I'd pay that price if I had to do this all over again. A recommended buy.
Digital camera Review: Fully customizable Totaly slick looking! Summary: 5 Stars
Love it.
I have a busy overcrowded desk with two lcd monitors.
Cordless is a MUST.
My old cordless was OK, but just wasn't giving me the range I needed to take multi tasking to the next level.
No problems ever with connections. No half typed words or slow laggy mouse.
This unit has the ultimate mouse in the combo. recharging station too.
Super easy to reset the quick buttons on the laptop to do what I want them to do. The multifunction mouse is totally customizable as well.
I love the fact that with one click and roll you can switch between open programs and get to the one you need right away. Flipping-- it's stellar.
The LCD is nice for the clock alone. Add in the email alert option and the integrated calculator just takes me to a whole new level of productivity.
Awesome.
