Digital camera Review: Great For PC Users switching to Mac
Summary: 5 Stars

Product works perfectly if u install the software from the site and and NOT the software on the disc included. Aside from the fact that theres no caps lock indicator, I have no problem with this keyboard. I love that ALL of the buttons on the mouse are customizable. Great bonus is that you can use it for a PC too. Bottomline, if you are primarily a PC user and you are Mac beginner, this is the perfect product for you as it still has a PC keyboard feel.

Digital camera Review: Great Item

The item came quickly and was in great condition. Have been using it every day and it works great!

Digital camera Review: Great Keyboard and Mouse!
Summary: 5 Stars

This keyboard and mouse have been wonderful. It is an upgrade to the standard mouse and keyboard that come with the Apple desktop computers. I'm a writer/editor, and after a while of typing, my wrists would hurt from the upward slant of the Apple keyboard. But, with this keyboard, I'm able to type for hours a day with no pain whatsoever becasue this keybaord is so thin and flat. I like the look of the Apple Keyboard and Mighty mouse better, but the ease of use and comfort that I have using this keybaord and mouse far suprasses. The mouse conforms to my hand well and has all the functionality that I need. The butttons for launching applications are placed in weird spots, but after a little while you get used to them. If you are looking for a keyboard/mouse upgrade, then look no further. It is a great product for the price.

Digital camera Review: Great Keyboard, Great Value
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this keyboard (and mouse) from one of the Amazon Merchants. It was about $12 less than the new price quoted above (October 2008) including shipping. Unlike some other reviewers I have no complaints. I downloaded the latest software and the keyboard and mouse control panel (located as one of the System Preferences), and it worked just fine with my OS 10.4. It was easy to reassign the buttons on the mouse. I reset the two thumb buttons on the side to Apple-key '[ and Apple-key '] which are Back and Forward in Safari and other browsers.

To reset mouse buttons or keys on the keyboard, click on the Desktop, and in the Finder, pull down the ' menu, select SYSTEM PREFERENCES and on the bottom row labeled OTHER, select LOGITECH CONTROL CENTER.

Click on the picture of the mouse or keyboard. The CONFIGURE button is now active, and click it. Select the button or key you wish to reassign, and at the far right of that row, you'll see an up-arrow and a down-arrow. When you click either, you'll see a number of selections. You can even select an application to launch.

You can also adjust the scrolling speed and distance and acceleration using the standard KEYBOARD AND MOUSE control panel on the HARDWARE row of SYSTEM PREFERENCES. (I think it might be nice for Logitech to include these controls and F-Key assignments on a future version of their software.)

As this is a wireless keyboard and mouse, I was very concerned about the amount of battery drain. The keyboard uses two AAA and mouse uses 2 AA batteries. In 4 months of use, I've had to replace the two generic AA alkaline mouse batteries once but the keyboard is still running on the first pair. Make sure you always have a couple of spares of each, as there is no alternative way to use the keyboard and mouse with dead batteries. (That is, you can't convert them to a wired set.)

The feel of the keyboard and mouse is just right to my fingers. There is a very soft audible and tactile click when you use either. I call this "The Goldilocks Effect." It feels "just right."

This is an excellent improvement on the wired keyboard and mouse which come with iMac. I have no experience with the Apple wireless set.

If there were one feature I would ask Logitech to add, it would be some indicator that the CAPS LOCK were engaged. I understand why it is omitted to save battery life. It's the only feature I missed, and I don't miss it enough to complain.

Thanks for reading my very wordy review.

Digital camera Review: Great Keyboard, average mouse
Summary: 4 Stars

When I got my iBook a few years back, I bought a standard apple keyboard and mouse with it for working at my desk, the mouse I used for awhile, then I went through a few replacements for that, the keyboard I stopped using pretty quick and just used the main laptop keyboard. I went through two other mice before I got to the Logitech mx1000, which is the peak of desktop mice as far as I'm concerned. My mx1000 lost one of the feet on the bottom that kept it level a few months ago so I started looking for a replacement for it (though it was still quite usable) and the one thing that I wanted was comparable functions on the mouse (which is alot on an 8 button mouse like this) and I had wanted a wireless keyboard as well. I saw this and everything on the mouse looked comparable, with the exception of an application switch, but I figured I could do without that. When I got the set, I set it up and used it for a few weeks, but I couldn't get a grasp on the mouse. In comparison to my mx1000, which is over two years old, this mouse is light and it feels fragile. The tracking speed is nowhere near as fast, nor as high resolution, and on top of that, it takes a second to wake up if it has sat for a few seconds idle, whereas the mx1000 wakes up instantly and has a very fast hi-res tracking speed. The Multimedia buttons on the mouse are operable, but badly positioned, so reconfiguring them isn't all that great because I wouldn't have used them as much as I could have if they had been placed in a better position. The forward and back thumb buttons feel soft in comparison and they don't have as much of an audible click to make sure you hit the button, again in comparison to the mx1000. The scroll wheel has a much chunkier scrolling feel, you can feel the notches, so that you know how much you've scrolled, but they don't feel as refined as they could be. On the other hand, I always found horizontal scrolling way too slow on the mx1000 even on maximum speed, this scroll wheel does it much faster, which is one of the few things that sets this mouse apart from the mx1000.

On the other hand there's the keyboard. It's thin and light, and has a multitude of configurable buttons. Both the mouse and the keyboard had multimedia buttons on them making the set on one redundant. Key strokes are quiet, and light, unlike the standard apple keyboard that has stiff but solid buttons. Overall, the keyboard is a very good keyboard that I use every day.

I bought this set back in August of last year and have had plenty of use time on them. I completely stopped using the mouse after a month or so because of how superior the mx1000 felt in comparison, even though it is showing the wear of a two year old mouse, the trade offs are in favor of the mx1000. I'd give the keyboard a 5 and the mouse a three, since it is better than most mice that come standard with any computer, giving the set a 4 out of five stars.
