Digital camera reviews of Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Set

Digital camera Review: Buyer beware: short range!
Summary: 3 Stars

I specifically bought this keyboard and mice combo for use in a home theater PC setup. Little did I realize that this product has a horrible range! No where on the Logitech website or on the Amazon product description page does it mention that the range for this is only about 6 feet. This deficiency makes this a horrible product for my application. Since the couch is about 10-12 feet away from the HTPC, it doesn't pick up a signal at all.

The lack of transparency on the actual specifications of this product is what caused the low rating. I consider myself to be technologically savvy, but I still didn't realize this limitation until it was too late and I had already purchased the product. Stop hiding such important specifications/limitations Logitech!

Otherwise, the product is decent. I don't like the changed grouping of F-function keys. The mouse is also a bit flimsy. It doesn't have the solid feel and click that I desire. Keyboard is pretty comfortable though.

Digital camera Review: Catch the Wave!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have written several reviews related to finding the "perfect" keyboard. I, like another reviewer, am a bit of a upgrade fetishist when it comes to my computer. I am always looking for the next best piece of hardware. I am the previous owner of both a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 and a Logitech Cordless Laser MX3200. Both had features that I found highly desirable in a keyboard. I must say that the new Logitech Cordless Wave Desktop takes the features that I like in both of the other keyboards and marries them into a great ergonomic desktop set that is great for a variety of users.

My old Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 was pretty awesome. It was my first ergonomic style keyboard. I use my computer heavily throughout the day, and anything that can make me more comfortable using it is gold in my book. I liked the way that the Microsoft keyboard was designed to support the wrists and properly align the hands when typing. The wrist rest was very comfortable, and the keys had good tactile and silent feedback. On the other hand (no pun intended), the backward slope on the keyboard was EXTREME. So was the layout of the keys. I remember the some of the keys, especially the ones on the ends, were so distorted that it was hard to reach them. And the spacebar was so rigid that it was hard to push while touch typing. I wanted comfort, but the size and the awkwardness of the keyboard made me end up moving on.

The Logitech Cordless Laser MX3200 was my next best keyboard. It had good Internet browsing features. It also had neat features built right into the keyboard. It had and LCD display, a button for cycling through programs, media control buttons, user defined buttons, Office buttons, and more. I liked that the keys on it had good tactile feedback and were silent. Because of the straight design, however, nothing was gained in terms of comfort. It did come with a wrist rest, but it wasn't substantial enough to make a difference. The zoom function was also hyper sensitive. Sometimes I would touch the side of the zoom slider on accident and without knowing, and I would see the text on my screen get magnified to 200% without knowing why. The mouse that came with the set was really nice, but it was designed for right handed people only. It also had a zoom button on it (redundant), located right next to a search button. The zoom rocker was so close to the search button on the mouse, that if you weren't careful you could activate an unnecessary web search by using it.

I like the Logitech Wave because it takes what I liked from both keyboards and makes them into one great ergonomic set. I have the feeling I love in the Logitech keyboard with the function of the ergonomic keyboard. The keys on the Logitech Wave are designed with a slope and reach similar to the Natural Ergonomic 4000, without the distortion of the keys and the extreme back slope. There are subtle differences in the size of the keys, but they are not overwhelming. There are two levels of elevation on this keyboard. I never need them, but it is nice to have the option. The wrist rest is not huge like the Ergonomic 4000 but not too small like the MX3200. The spacebar is no harder to press than the other keys. Only the most necessary function buttons are included on the keyboard. The print on the keys are bright and bold.

The mouse is very basic. The only special features that it has are the back and forward buttons and the tilt-wheel. For a set this expensive, it could have come with more functionality. It is also a little light, and the location of the forward and back buttons may make it easy to accidentally click them while mousing. The buttons are also not very sturdy to the touch. It is ambidextrous, however, so both left-handed and right-handed users can enjoy the set.

One feature that I felt that Logitech could have improved on was the pairing of the mouse and keyboard. On the MX3200 Laser set, the mouse and keyboard came with the connections secured to the receiver. In this set, you have to manually secure the connection. There is no reason why Logitech could not have had that enabled when the product shipped out, especially since both products are about the same price. The SetPoint software installed and updated itself without any problems, although the wait was a little on the lengthy side.

Overall, this is a great idea for those who want an ergonomic keyboard without the extreme splits and angles of traditional ergonomic set. The set does have some minor setbacks such as the non-secured connection and the mouse, but overall, I think if you are in need of ergonomics without needing extremes, this is the set for you.

Digital camera Review: Comfortable and Useful
Summary: 5 Stars

I really appreciate the wave design on the keyboard it fits my fingers nicely. I have had no connectivity problems, however, my receiver is not far from my keyboard and mouse. The mouse tracks nicely and accurately. I also like the programmable buttons on both the keyboard and mouse. It helps me do things I do often even quicker. The only "downfall" I have noticed is as others have commented, that the button on the right side of the mouse is pretty easy to click accidentally. I use the set for work every day and would recommend it to anyone.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This is my third wireless keyboard and mouse combination. My first was by Microsoft and figured I couldn't go wrong with that brand. But, I was completely wrong. It just didn't work at all!! In order to save my sanity I brought it back to the store and picked up a Logitech combination. To this day, I still use that set and it works perfectly!! My only complaint was that they got rid of the insert key so you had to turn off caps lock, hit Ins, then turn it back on -- which is not always the easiest thing to do when you REALLY need that insert key. I use that set at home and have never looked back!

So when I saw this product, I knew I had the perfect replacement for the wired keyboard and mouse I had at work. I wasn't all that shocked when I found that the insert key was missing again BUT to make me happy (I'm sure they did it just for me) they replaced the never-used scroll lock button with the insert key. I'm a happy camper!

This is also much more comfortable than anything else I've used. It has a nice ergonomic feel to the keyboard and I can type for HOURS straight without straining my hand -- a problem I had before I replaced the keyboard. The mouse also fits my hand like it was made for it. The rubber sides adds a nice grip and adds to the comfort of this entire package.

The media buttons at the top are used constantly and a few more have been added since my first Logitech set. My favorite one is one that allows you to swap programs. It is much more graphical and detailed than my old method of Alt-Tab and it has become my preference when switching between applications. I really appreciate Logitech's innovation while designing the keyboard.

I plugged their receiver right into my USB slot and have not had any problems whatsoever. None! It has really exceeded my expectations on the wireless front.

My only problem is that it is missing a button. I'm not sure what it is called but most keyboards have it and it brings a menu on the screen similar to what you would get if you right-clicked with your mouse. Hey, Logitech, I use that!! A lot! You see, after growing up on DOS I've tended to prefer keyboard commands over mouse commands if they are available and that made that button extremely useful.

But that is my only complaint. Other than that, this thing has been flawless and performed marvelously. I would recommend this to anybody who is looking for a wireless keyboard and mouse unless you are like me and would really miss that right-click key.

Digital camera Review: Comfortable and functional...highly recommend

This is the 3rd time I have purchased this exact keyboard and mouse combo. I now have one at every computer I use at work and at home.

The power button on mouse makes battery last, and the side buttons are great for navigating forward and back in everything from your internet browser to picture viewer.

The keyboard has some great quick keys including calculator, zoom in/out, pictures and of course music and volume controls. The wave shape is very comfortable and the keystrokes are smooooooooth.
