Digital camera reviews of Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 with Vibration Feedback (Black)Digital camera Review: Decent game pad! Summary: 4 Stars
It works just fine and dandy. It feels a little strange to my hands; I prefer the way my Saitek P880 Dual Analog PC Game Pad feels, but one of the analog joysticks on that one broke after a few years, and so I purchased this one. The wireless feature is nice, but it requires that you change batteries periodically, which I find irritating and expensive. All such devices should have built in rechargable batteries and charging docks in this day and age.
Digital camera Review: Decent wireless gamepad Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this to play LFS after my last gamepad broke. I didn't want to spend very much as I just wanted something to kill a few minutes here and there with. And as I had just bought a laptop, I wanted something wireless. Setup is easy, works flawlessly. However, the logitech software will not install on Windows 7. Turns out I don't need it for the game I'm playing, but its a little worrying. Also the wireless USB is a bit....cluttered. It plugs in and has an ~8" cord dangling from the side of my laptop. I'm spoiled with Blueteeth maybe, but the cord isn't long enough to use a sticky and attach anywhere and not short enough to just be a part of the computer. If I was using a tower, it would still be dangling off the side of it. However, price cannot be beat.
Digital camera Review: Depends on the game. Console user? Summary: 3 Stars
Wound up giving up on this. Few games I play map all the buttons - it just seems like a generic mapping that all controllers would use since the extra buttons don't get used and its a pain to map the buttons yourself. Certain things like changing the view with one stick and moving with the other stick you might not be able to get working correctly for a game.
Then there's the fact its for the computer and a lot of computer games use lots of keys on the keyboard. You can't map all of them.
The usb IR receiver blinks constantly when plugged in and not being used. You have to unplug it to make it stop.
Digital camera Review: Disappointing Summary: 2 Stars
Let me preface what I'm about to say with I consider myself a fan of Logitech products. Going back to my first PC in '98 I've always enjoyed their line of mice and game controllers (they make the definitive racing wheel IMO). So its with great reluctance that I give their industrial design group poor marks for this particular iteration of their gamepad. Obviously taking its cue from the venerable Playstation controller, Logitech took what it seemed was a no-brainer idea and matched Sony's near perfect design button for button. But the problem isn't the buttons you see, its the shape. The two handles simply are too close together....too vertically aligned to be comfortable enough for extended play sessions. At first try the controller seems a comfortable fit but after about 5 minutes of play, the unatural position becomes more pronounced until it becomes distracting enough to force one to pick up the mouse and keyboard again. The final deal-breaker was the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, a game made for consoles ported to the PC that you would assume would benefit from the gamepad but that wasn't the case. Its as if the controller were designed strictly for children rather than the adults who make up a large percentage of PC gaming.
In closing, I would urge anyone who may purchase this to keep their receipt. I would also urge Logitech to go back to their previous way of designing game controllers, by forging their own path which is something they have proven in the past they are quite adept at.
Digital camera Review: Discriminating gamer. Summary: 1 Stars
This unit has been in my hands for two weeks, and already I'm having serious issues with it.
First, either the controller can't send precise signals or the sensor isn't discrimination enough. Every so often, pressing one button will activate the function of a different button. (e.g. I'll press button 6 and button 2 will activate instead)
Second, the right analog stick won't stay zeroed. I started out fine, but went south over time. It is now nearly unusable.
