I have been using the Logitech track ball over ten and love it. Once you get use to using your thumb instead of your wrist most people love it too. It took my husband a few months to get use to using his thumb and now refuses to use anything else. Much easier on your wrist. For those who do CADD work, this type of mouse speeds the process up and again much easier on the wrist. Love the product. Only negative is the ball sensors get dirty and even with regular cleaning eventual lose sentivity and accuracy, so if you use yours heavily (like I do) you do need to replace them annually but well worth it in my book.Digital camera Review: Classic in need of an update

A classic, ergonomic design. These devices have been very popular for years. But this product is long overdue for an update. Logitech's customer forums have dozens of requests for new versions of the thumb trackball devices, but Logitech hasn't even bothered to reply in years (one customer got an email reply acknowleding that they got lots of requests for new Trackman models).
This model uses antiquated 27 MHz wireless technology. The range is very limited, and the receiver is a large, corded blob half as big as the Trackman itself.
It doesn't have many of the buttons and features that most of the newer Logitech mice have.
PLEASE, Logitech, listen to your loyal customers and come out with some new trackball-based devices!

I just bought this for my windows7 machine; the mouse will not work from more than six inches away from the base unit. I'm not sure if this is just a defective unit. Also the plastic construction of this mouse is really cheap feeling; definitely a dated piece of hardware and I'm surprised logitech hasn't updated it. As expected the Logitech item is unsurpassed. It is very responsive and the ball removes without taking the holder apart to clean it. Highly recommended.
