Digital camera reviews of Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick (Silver/Black)

Digital camera Review: Built ford tough
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had this joystick now for about 4 years. And this is four years of intense use (Microsoft Flight simulator, il2, Falcon 4.0 AF and more). It survived being crushed under heavy bags while moving to another house when it was 3 years old. Its fell down a couple times. And only now after 4 and a half years (which is really old age in joystick years) is it showing signs of its age. Two buttons on the bottom plate have stopped working. If I plug it into usb port 2 it will behave perfectly but in usb port 1 the both axis and twist are ultra sensitive. So your aircraft will make alot of small unwanted movements. So here I am buying another one. Not that I absolutely need one but the current one will make a good backup. Buy it!! lol seriously you wont regret it.

Digital camera Review: Buy this controller
Summary: 4 Stars

No complaints about this joystick for Battlefield 2. There are some good guides on how to program it. I didn't use the CD that came with the stick, I just configured it using window's game controller config in the control panel. No complaints. Buttons were easy to program.

The only thing is although the base is weighted, you may want to secure it further and rig some sort of suction cup or velcro system because if you make a sudden movement it will not stay put.

Digital camera Review: CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!
Summary: 4 Stars

After reading and researching the huge selection of joysticks and joystick combos I settled on this one because of the 'twist' feature that it has and the great price. The stick moves very smoothly and has a large footprint so it's very stable and won't move or flip over when you're fully in the game and the action gets intense! It has 12 programmable buttons and comes with Logitech's software (Profiler). Here is where Logitech starts losing points with me. First, they were never well known for being very good at explaining their equipments software, (I have several other Logitech devices), and it's no different with this 'Profiler software'. It was very time consuming and frustrating to try and understand how/when I would use the Profiler and in the end, I just threw it out. The directions suck and so does their so-called help option. Fortunately, all the games have 'profiling' software and explain very clearly how to use it. I presently spend my time split between YS Flight and Aces High, (both are free flight Sims), which are great games and I strongly recommend them for the beginner and even the intermediates out there. But I just got my new game, the 14gig "FSX Gold" by Microsoft and I'll be loading, playing and reviewing that in the near future. So as far as the Logitech Extreme 3D goes, I think this was a great choice and recommend it to anyone. The real hard core gamers/fliers that gave this a relatively poor review confound me because if I were into gaming as much as they were, I would have an entire rig, (Yolk or Stick, Rudder pedals, and Thrust controls). So I don't know why they would be messing with sticks under $40.00 anyway. I'm an RC plane pilot/builder and I flew a Cessna many years ago when I was 14, (My father let me fly it after he got it up and then he would land it), to a very limited degree and I'm 54 now. My point is that I have enough experience to know the value of a rudder, (the twist option's default action), and the other sticks didn't have that. Now if I could have afforded it I would have gone with the 'big rigs' but the money wasn't there for those.

Digital camera Review: Calibration nightmare
Summary: 1 Stars

Bought two of these joysticks. After 2 months they both lost calibration and started drifting to the right. No means to recalibrate them. Save your money for something better.
Cheap axis circuitry is to blame. Logitech will not fool me again.

Digital camera Review: Couldn't Calibrate Correctly. Lack of Customer Support.
Summary: 1 Stars

It came broken right of the box. It can't center and every time I try to calibrate it is hovers southeast. It also isn't heavy enough. It is really easy to flip it over when in rough use. There is also no way to lock the twist feature which can be annoying when trying to calibrate. The only thing that is good about it is that it feels comfortable. Other than that it came broken right out of the box.
