Digital camera reviews of Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard (Black/Silver)Digital camera Review: Best in class Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this keyboard as a gift for my son, who is a gamer, and extremely picky about his keyboard and mouse. He had already purchased a different lighted keyboard, but decided he preferred this one (by far) after using one at a friend's house. His favorite feature was the additional keys for macros and his only complaint was the lack of color options for the backlight.
Digital camera Review: Best keyboard I've used Summary: 5 Stars
This is the 2nd G11 I've owned. The first one died after about 3 years. I've used like 4 g15s since and they were just horrible quality. I've had to return 2 and got so fed up almost stopped using logitech products.
Main reason I've liked this keyboard is 18 g keys and 3 memory banks. I use most of them. The sound wheel is also very convenient, though I don't use any of the other keys there. I actually like the handles on top to grab it, and the length never bothered me. I keep the back light on 24/7 and never had a problem.
Only issue with this keyboard is the usb ports. Don't use them. I've lost so many trackballs connecting to them and would always have to plug and unplug my keyboard to get it to work if I had something plugged in.
The only other issue is the software. Sometimes when running a macro it will start behaving like a different macro, so I'd have to terminate the application and restart it to fix it.
I miss having a little LCD on my keyboard to tell me cool stuff (when it worked) but with all the G keys this keyboard has, I won't be trying a different keyboard unless I pick up a game pad with programmable keys before.
If you can deal with the width, have no problem not connecting usb devices to this keyboard, and like lots of programmable keys, consider this keyboard. I'm hoping this will last me at least the 3 years my previous one lasted me and that was with heavy use.
Digital camera Review: Better cheaper option than the G15 or G19 Summary: 5 Stars
I just recently got this keyboard and I have to say that I love it. I thought it would take a long time to get used to because of all the G keys on the left which extend the keyboard beyong its normal length but My adjust period only last a few hours. The Keys are soft and fluid to touch and push. They are pretty quite compared to other keyboards but if your doing some fast heavy typing you do and will hear the keys. The keyboard its self is very long/wide. You have to have the space for it to be able to comfortably fit your mouse next to it with enough room. Lucky for me that was not an issue for me. The blue illuminated keys are not terrible bright. It makes the keys more noticeable during the day and they definitely help when you're in the dark. But as for bright clear as day back-lit lighting, No. There is not light adjuster either, you can't make it dimmer or brighter but you can choose to turn the lighting off completely. The keys have a nice soft finish to them them prevent your fingers from slipping off the keys if your hands are sweaty from gaming or whatever which is really helpful. On the bottom of the keyboard, the two levers to raise/tilt the keyboard do not raise it enough imo. Some people may not like that. It's not a big enough problem for me but everyone should know that they could have done a better job with that part. the performance of the keyboard is amazing. Very fast response time which I love, It also has an option for you to enter a "gaming mode" where if you accidentally hit the windows key you will not be tabbed out during your game. Overall this is the best "cheapest" gaming keyboard you can buy from the G-series of logitech.
Digital camera Review: Better than the G15 Summary: 5 Stars
This keyboard is a must for gamers~ It's backlit, comfortable to use, and the programmable keys on the side are my World of Warcraft keys. I was disappointed to find out that the newest version of this keyboard has LESS programmable keys.... NOW WAY! GET REAL! Why did Logitech do off with the extra keys? Made no sense...
Anywho, I own my one, and I purchased this as a gift for another WoW gamer. Love at first type also.
Pros: Back Lit, Media Keys, 18 programmable G keys
Cons: it is a rather *small* keyboard. You'll have to get used to the "squished" feeling at first.
Digital camera Review: Comfortable, Useful, Simply the best keyboard ever. Summary: 5 Stars
It doesn't have the bells and whistles of it's older brothers, it doesn't have the flash that other boards have, but if your looking for a gaming upgrade to your run of the mill board that came with your computer, this is it. Macros on the side made me buy this board for multiboxing and fragging people faster, but I've found it's a very comfortable typing keyboard too. It looks solid, works well, and even after my first G11 met an untimely end with a full cup of coffee (almost no keyboard can survive that, and it even still worked - till I needed to use an n,m, or comma), I looked around for about a day and came right back and bought another G11.
The G15 and G19 have less macro buttons, the reason I bought the G11 in the first place, and who needs an LCD screen on the keyboard? I have dual monitors as it is. Keep it simple and effective and I'm sold. It'll be a sad day when they discontinue this model. Other boards just didn't have the smoothness and comfort, sacrificed for design. The G11 is big, but it's a no nonsense board.
