Digital camera reviews of Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (Black)

Digital camera Review: A excellent, feature-rich, solid keyboard overall
Summary: 5 Stars

Pros
-Relatively good construction quality, though my previous Saitek Eclipse was actually still a bit more solid in my opinion.
-The palmrest has a nice sorta rubberied finish to it so my hands aren't slipping around like on my previous keyboards.
-LCD screen is actually pretty easilly viewable and has better application support than I had initially expected. The most useful of these for me are probably, RSS, Trillian, and CoreTemp. It's sorta nice when I run a random application and see it pop up on my G15 screen.
-Illumination is relatively bright and well distributed.

Cons
-I don't particularly like the soft keypresses, I prefer a distinct "clicky" feel like that found on ThinkPads.
-The G keys are honestly useless to me and sorta just get in my way.
-USB1.1 support only on the USB ports, but so far I've kept both my Logitech G500 laser mouse and 3Dconnexion 3D CAD mouse plugged into it and it works perfectly fine and makes my cording neater.

Summary
Overall I still think this is a great keyboard. My previous two keyboards were the Saitek Eclipse and the Razer Arctosa. All three of these keyboards cost me $35 (though the G15 had the biggest sale discount) and I can undoubtly say that out of the three the G15 runs circles around the others in terms of overall build quality and features.

Digital camera Review: A nice pricey keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful unit. The keys are quiet enough so that others are not disturbed by the clicking, yet they have enough tactile feel that you can feel when you have engaged the key. I am not an avid gamer so I am unable to speculate on how it responds in a gaming environment. I really like the illumiated keys, and like the looks of the LCD screen. The keyspacing is right on target for my hands. There are several Marco keys with 3 diffrent levels that a person can program. I really have not found a use, nor took the time to mess with them. I give this keyboard 5 stars. The only con that I have found is price. I recommend this product even for a person who does not game all of the time.

Digital camera Review: AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't be fooled by the lighting and the hype. This is the most poorly constructed keyboard I have ever owned and I am no youngster.

I have owned 3 of these G15 keyboards. The first one had to be replaced under warranty, while the second and third unit failed just beyond the warranty period...how convenient logitech.(notice I won't even capitalize the name)

I have also had 3 logitech G5 mice, which all failed and 4 logitech headsets, 2 failing within weeks and all the rest just beyond the warranty period.

logitech customer support is nearly non-existent, and when you do reach the people that can help, they won't.

Here is what logitech has offered me for all my problems:
Of the first 9 failed products, I received replacement units when under warranty. Even though we are talking about 9 failed products, logitech was willing to do nothing once out of warranty.
After the 10th failed product, logitech decided to do something...get this:
They offered me one 50% off discount on another G15. Even if I wanted an 11th failed product, they made it not worth my while. The 50% discount could only be applied if I purchased it from them. The price they offer is so inflated that 50% off is only about $15 less than I could buy it for elsewhere online.

This is what you can come to expect from this awful company.
Lastly, I have purchased 2 Razer Deathadder mice, both in their second year and going strong. Also purchased a Razer keyboard (much better product), and 2 Plantronics Game Com Pro 1 Headsets, which blow the logitech junk out of the water.

Don't get caught in the logitech web. Cut your losses and go elsewhere. You can't possibly find a worse product or company out there, so what do you have to lose?

Digital camera Review: Absolute Garbage
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't know where to start with this keyboard. I had it for a week before I returned it for a verity of reasons which I would call defects. Having a bunch of keys for macros is nice, but hitting one of your macro keys every time you try to press control is a bit much. This problem can be solved by making a profile with no macros assigned, but if you do this, what is the point of having macro keys in the first place? The lcd screen is a nice touch, but it's really only good for controlling your music while in game, it has an RSS feed component, but who wants to read news off of a tiny screen on their keyboard?

What really pissed me off was how unresponsive the keys were. I would be playing Team Fortress 2 and my character would stop moving forward. At first I thought it was my imagination, lag or something right? Well it actually turns out that unless you press the key all the down as far as it goes, the keyboard doesn't register the key stroke. So while it appeared that I was pressing the "w" key to move forward, the keyboard wasn't registering the key stroke. The best way to describe the keys on this keyboard is "mushy" or "unresponsive." When I realized that it was the keyboard getting me killed, I unplugged it and put it back in the box. Amazon returns took it back no questions asked. I went back to using my 7 year old Microsoft media keyboard, which no one would call a "gaming" keyboard, but at least it has keys that register when I press them and I don't accidentally hit any extra keys when I'm playing games.

This keyboard fails. I can't believe it has so many positive reviews. It is an absolute piece garbage and to call it a gaming keyboard is a joke.

Digital camera Review: Aewsome Key Board
Summary: 5 Stars

The best thing about this keyboard are the macros! The macro profiles automatically change when you launch programs. Works perfectly.
