Digital camera reviews of Logitech G9 Laser Mouse

Digital camera Review: Amazing gaming mouse
Summary: 4 Stars

I've had the mouse for quite a while now, and it's performed quite admirably. I'm a big fan of FPS's, and I find the extra buttons and the quick responsiveness very helpful. I don't find that much use for the all the DPI settings and profiles, but sometimes it comes in handy in games that sometimes impair you by dropping the sensitivity (e.g. when you're stunned in CoD4 or when you deploy the machine gun in DoD), and all you have to do is increase the DPI and then the sensitivity feels like normal! The interchangeable grips are nice, but if you have big hands, you'll probably just stick to the large one. Similarly, you'll probably just use all the heaviest weight cartridges.
My one complaint is the scroll wheel. It has a "free spinning" function like the MX Revolution, but you won't have much opportunity to use it because 1) it has limited application, 2) you'll forget it's there, and 3) it JAMS like a mofo. The first time it happened, it couldn't even complete a full revolution before the jam stopped the wheel. However, when I turn free spinning off, the jam isn't that noticeable. Regardless, I emailed Logitech tech support, and I must say, they are AMAZING. I told them the problem, and they just sent me a NEW one, without requiring me to send the old one back. I ended up giving my friend a more-than-usable G9. However, the new one (my current one) is now clogged too, but I don't care anymore, since it's not that big of a problem.

Digital camera Review: Amazing mouse but not perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

This mouse is the ultimate in actual precision, and not just in the numbers. It's smooth and can be weighted to your personal feel very easily and is very well constructed. I do however have problems with the DPI adjustment buttons and the s/s wheel. When moving the wheel side to side I often actuate either the left or right mouse button which can be disasterous in game. While the slight up curve on the l/r buttons is very comfortable, it is just too close to the wheel making it too easy to activate when using s/s wheel. Also when switching DPI I also activate the left mouse button quite often accidentally. This design is a bit annoying and I am trying to come up with a workaround, but perhaps I will actually do some machining on the mouse to modify the button areas I have mentioned, but probably not until it is much older since I paid a goodly sum for this and don't want to ruin it so soon. I didn't give the setup software good points either since I had some trouble with it though I believe spending more time with it will yield some great results. It can do so much it is just a bit overwhelming. The colored lights which change on the mouse itself to identify which mode you are in is truly great. And though I have quite large hands and at first found this mouse to be a little too small, I have adapted very well to it in just a few days gaming. Odd that it is so much better than my G5 that I used prior to this. But it is measureably smoother and more accurate even set to the identical DPI and weighting. Buy this mouse if you are serious about your gaming or just want a very comfortable mouse for anything. I also use this mouse for WaveLab and Solidworks and it is nothing less than perfect. You won't be disappointed. Oh and I didn't mention that the wire on this mouse does not interfere at all with the motion so no need to go wireless with all the inherent issues that can bring. Digital camera Review: Amazing mouse!
Summary: 5 Stars

Razer boasts the Mamba, and Microsoft has the Sidewinder, but Neither of them compare the the simplicity and perfection in the G9 created by Logitech. I didn't need the 5600 dpi or else I would have bought the G9x. I like that you can change the body type. It actually makes a huge difference in the feel. I use the XL for everyday use and the other for FPS games since it is easier for a claw grip. It's not wireless, but for the price, who cares? 3200 dpi is enough for almost everything. I use it with the Razer Shpex mouse skin and have had no tracking problems whatsoever. I love the different profiles and macros. I don't play WoW, but I am sure it would be amazing there too. It does get a little dusty sometimes.

My current configuration is the XL and 16g. It's still easy to use but doesn't carry it's momentum when I play which helps me keep accurate.

Digital camera Review: Amazing...
Summary: 5 Stars

I used to own the logitech mx revolution and i thought it was the most comfortable mouse ever. After using the comfort grip on the g9 i will take that back. This IS the most comfortable mouse i have ever used.

Digital camera Review: Awesome

The best mouse I've ever owned. Previously I had a G5, but found it was too big of a mouse for me. I use a claw grip, and that's what the g9 is for. Comes with everything you may need, two hand grips, and weights. Also allows you to have 5 profiles, each with it's set of sensitivity settings. You can even change the color of the LED on top. My game performance has gone way up with this mouse. Really it's a matter of personal opinion, but if you've got smaller hands, you'd probably be better with the G9 over the G5.
