Digital camera reviews of Logitech G9 Laser MouseDigital camera Review: Awesome gaming mouse but has its cons Summary: 4 Stars
I used this mouse for windows and mac. Let me just say that on windows, it is GREAT. I love the ability to change the LED colors, changing the dpi on the fly like my old g5, and i love the feeling of it under my hand. Overall its a great mouse but has two cons:
1. For mac, its useless, no drivers or utilities. AND the sensitivity feels "off," the pointer accelerates at odd speeds and throws me off, I'm used to it now but I cannot play SC2,HoN, or DoTA with it well.
2. On the underside of the mouse, the mouse glides on plastic pads. These plastic pads have been beginning to scrap off and look disgusting, gathering grime and whatnot. I have to flip it and clean it every 2 weeks or so. On my old g5, this was NEVER a problem, the teflon pads were super smooth on the g5.
I dont mind cleaning my mouse, and I only game on windows now (MW2/BF2). I got this mouse for 23 bucks and so I aint complain'n. If the g500 and g9 were the same price, I'd get the g500 anyday.
Digital camera Review: Awesome gaming mouse! A must buy! Summary: 5 Stars
This mouse is absolutely awesome. I've always been a fan of Logitech mice, having had a G7 and G5. I was looking for a new mouse and tried some of the Razer mice. I didn't find them comfortable at all and after using them for several days, they still didn't cut it. So I decided to try the Logitech G9, and I'm so glad I did.
First this mouse is extremely comfortable. I could just pick this mouse up and start playing, and didn't lose any of my previous accuracy in FPS. Anyone who has gotten a new mouse knows that it usually feels weird when you first get a mouse. This mouse just felt right. There was no adjustment period, it was just perfectly shaped for your hand.
Also this mouse is great for customizability, you have two grips, adjustable weights, and the software is very robust and lets you create profiles for mouse sensitivities and even changing the color of the LED.
The tracking on this mouse is perfect, I've never had the mouse skip on me, and I usually play FPS games like CS, COD4 and TF2. The construction of the mouse is top notch, I've had it for several months without any sign of wear to the grip or the bottom of the mouse. All in all a fantastic mouse. Definitely a 5 star product.
Digital camera Review: Awesome!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This mouse is the best mouse I've ever used! I had problems with the G9-specific SetPoint software not installing, but a topic in the logitech mouse forums provided a fix, and it works fine.
A couple things, though:
- The included grips are a bit small for my hands, but the ID Grip that logitech sells on its website is a bit bigger than both the included grips, so I prefer to use that one most of the time.
- Being able to change the color of the LEDs and being able to store profiles is frankly quite awesome. I enjoy changing the colors of the LEDs on a whim, and the profile feature is handy for quickly switching controls when launching a game.
- This mouse is really kind of small. It's about the size of a generic optical mouse, far smaller than the MX518 I used before. Using the ID grip makes the mouse almost as big as the 518, but the mouse takes some getting used to because it's not as comfy as Logitech's other expensive mice. The MX5xx series is much more comfortable.
Overall, this mouse is totally awesome. I mean, it definitely feels awesome in your hands even if you don't like it. I didn't like its feel at first, and it's not a good mouse for people who like to feel comfortable when using the computer, but it's excellent for game playing and I've grown to like it a lot.
One last note:
If you were curious about how it displays the 5 profiles/5 dpi settings with only three bars, it works like this:
1st: [ . .
2nd: [ [ .
3rd: [ [ [
4th: . [ [
5th: . . [
The curiosity was kind of eating away at me when I was deciding on buying it, but yeah, that's how it displays the 5 profiles/5 dpi levels.
Digital camera Review: Awsome Mouse Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the greatest mouse that I have purchased. Logitech all the way for me. I went from a generic Logitech to MX 700 to G5 to this G9. This a great laser mouse, the sensitivity is great for gamers. Which I am. The ability to add weights and switch skin is awsome.
Digital camera Review: Awwwww Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
In a word - SWEEEEEET! First off let me point out that Amazon's FREE shipping including the order took 2 days (very nice since my mouse was broken). This is a real good mouse.
PROs:
-laser, DPI, change-on-the-fly speed, buttons galore, neat display (in custom colors) of speed, 2 "grips", weights (4x4g, 4x7g), saveability of 5 profiles for carrying the mouse to another place, glides like a dream on my table without those god-awful mouse-pads.
CONs (however insegnificant):
-I was really afraid this mouse was way wide for me (as I have small hands) and after reading all the "least ergonomic mouse ever" reviews, I got scared; well HA! First off: I CAN hold the mouse well. It's wide, though not terribly wide. It's also relatively short. The tro grips are basically the same except one has a rough finish and the other has a thumb-rest. When trying out different "grips", I took one off and before putting the other one on, I stopped and wondered. Looking at me was a sexy mouse hull without anything on top of it. So I tried that variation and I must say WOW. It felt like it was made for my hand. Now, with the "grips" off, you can still use the side buttons and weight tray, but the mouse is slimmer and IMHO, sexier.
The reason for my star off? That would be a new one in my book - it's impossible to pick this mouse up and move it without clicking on the side button(s). I often pick up and move my mouse during an online firefight. This makes it annoying, to say the least! *This is completely fixed when using the mouse without the "grips" on.*
Overall this mouse is worth it (I caught it on "sale" at [...] instead of the 70-80-90+ everywhere else.)
P.S. I don't really shift speed "on the fly", and like some other reviewers say, I never really caught the +/- buttons inadvertenly while pressing the main button.
