From its elegant looks to its easy of setup and use, I am a new fan of this remote. The software install and setup was a breeze, prompting you to input the make and model numbers of all your components you want to control and the software took care of the rest.
I have 7 AV components from the latest and the greatest to the ones that are 10+ years old (JVC VCR and Technics 5 disc CD changer). Harmony's database found ALL of them, including my new Motorola HDTV DVR cablebox. The "Activity" feature is a god sent, automatically switching my Sony HDTV's 7 inputs to accommodate whatever I want to watch or listen to. Press "Watch DVD", it turns on the TV, sets the correct input source, turns on the Receiver with correct input as well, turns on the DVD and automatically plays the movie. Press one button at the top of the remote and everything turns off. This feature was the reason why I got the remote and it works as advertised.
The whole process of fine tuning my components, including the initial setup took less than an hour. Logitech provides great online support for faqs and there is a manual for the remote when you click on "more help" from the Harmony application.
Yes, there are flaws such as small buttons, small screen with endless scrolls (depending on the component) among other things but it's a small price to pay to replace 7 remotes and being able to watch DVD, play games with surround sound, and other entertainment tasks with a singe click of a button.

I got this remote from Amazon on a great deal. This is an amazing remote. It took minutes for me to set up and configure to all of my media devices. It runs my TV, DVD player, Sound System, and even my Zune seemlessly. I had to spend a couple of minutes tweeking it just a little bit, (i.e. it would push the button one too many times on the Zune; on the "Watch DVD" setting I had to designate a button to open the DVD player). Thanks to the 'Activities' button and menu, it's amazingly simple for even the least tech-savvy to sit and enjoy any media experience. I owned a universal remote prior to purchasing the Harmony 550, and although it was better than using multiple remotes for multiple devices, the 550 easily simplifies the process even further. With a normal universal remote, one must select an input device to give commands to, and with this hassle, my parents were not getting the full experience of watching a movie or TV. Now, my mother has no problem pressing "I want to watch TV" on the LCD screen and having all three devices turn on and sync in seconds.
Some may say that the setup via computer for the remote is a bit difficult and deters non-tech-savvy peoples, but I did not find this problem. The hardest part to the entire process was finding the make and model of my devices (which only took about 5 min).
All in all, I absolutely adore this remote, and both me and my family are very satisfied with it.

I can't say how great the new remotes are, but I was not willing to pay $300 for a remote so I purchased the older model. Amazing, could not be happier, I only have a HDTV, DVD, Receiver and AT&T universe, but all of them work perfectly with this remote. Uverse needs just a little programming to get what I was looking for, but it only took 15 min to get right.Digital camera Review: Amazing device!!

I recently brought my TV situation into the 20th century, complete with flat screen, DVD, surround sound, XM and iPod sound capabilities. I ended up with 4 remotes and needed a spreadsheet to figure out how to turn anything on. I bought the Harmony 550 universal, connected it to my computer, downloaded the software, plugged in all the components I have and VOILA! This one remote is amazing. It even let me custom program buttons that I use most. After years of using multiple remotes for stuff, this was a no brainer purchase. = )
