Digital camera reviews of Logitech Harmony 659 Advanced Universal Remote Control - RefurbishedDigital camera Review: Easy to program, use, and provides sticker shock relief! Summary: 5 Stars
I was skeptical about purchasing this remote. Would it be to difficult to set up? Would it be functional with my system? Would it be a good value? Could it live up to the hype of what others have said about it? The answers are NO, YES, YES & YES. Out of the box the unit looked brand new. Setup was fairly simple but I had to make some modifications on the fly, but no major problems. If you are unfamiliar with the Harmony and wonder how it works, it's unique because it controls functions and not single units. No longer use 1 button for TV, 1 for receiver, etc. If you want to watch TV, it will control the TV, cable box and receiver, all under 1 activity. The same for HD DVD, and with the Ryko Blu Wave remote, it will control the PS3 as well. It will even control my first generation JVC CD changer purchased in 1989.
However, it's not perfect. The lighted keys are a blueish tint and is difficult for me to read, and there are a bunch of 'em too. The LCD screen is not color like some other models, but the same blue color. Finally, it took me several attempts to get the keys programmed correctly, but I still got it right the second time through.
All in all, I'm very pleased with this purchase. The negatives I've found should not be enough to distract a buyer from making this purchase. This unit is a great addition to any home theater, and at the entry level price, an apprehensive buyer has nothing to worry about. Now about that upgrade to the color screen model...
Digital camera Review: Excellent Remote Summary: 5 Stars
My second Logitech remote. Unlike my previous remote, this one has 1-touch buttons "Watch Movie" "Watch TV". I love this and my wife really loves it in our theatre room because it replaces 3 complicated remotes!! Great Buy!
Digital camera Review: First Harmony puchase Summary: 4 Stars
Ordered this to try on my home theater. Found it extremely easy to program over the internet. Worked the first time corectly. Had it a couple of weeks now and still very happy with the operation and the quality of the refurbished product.
Digital camera Review: Gone and Forgotten Summary: 2 Stars
I wanted so much to like my Harmony; however, it has been discarded along with my Compaq Intel 286 laptop. It took many weeks of back and forth with Logitech just to get the software disk to get the device to work and then I found myself asking for bailout funds to afford batteries. It went through batteries faster than my SUV goes through a tank of gas. Actually a tank of gas lasts longer than the AA batteries.
Forget that. The device is just not worth the hassle. If Logitech has any other remotes that work I'd love to try them but this one is a born loser. Sorry. Just don't do it.
Digital camera Review: Good Remote Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent remote. Only problem is that sometimes it doesn't turn off or turn on a certain device. Easy enough to fix as you just hit the help button and go through the prompts. You can customize any button on the remote for any device. My only recommondation is to get some rechargable batteries.
