Digital camera reviews of Logitech Harmony 670 Universal RemoteDigital camera Review: Awesome - My wife no longers calls for help! Summary: 5 Stars
We had a fully programable remote, the Home Theater Master. And it was good (for me). But my wife called me at work 2 or 3 times each month to trouble shoot why she did nt have a picture, sound etc. and I walk her though what component should be on, what mode, what input etc. and solve the problem. After getting the 670, NO MORE PHONE CALLS!
I wish there were a few more buttons and another circle of buttons but I'm nit-picking.
Digital camera Review: Awesome Customer Support Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the Logitech Harmony 670 Universal Remote to control a myriad of electronics. When I was following the easy setup online I was missing a couple functions that the setup process would not allow me to do, so I contacted customer support with my issues via e-mail, they responded with, please update your remote, I did and it was now working. They took my information updated the remote and all I had to do was plug it in and I was good to go, they were quick to respond within 24 hrs and they were dead on with what they needed to do. I was very impressed with the level of customer support, I have been using the remote now for a month and a half and the battery life is good still, the buttons are a little small and placed tight together but I have removed 7 remotes and only have 1.
Digital camera Review: Awesome remote!! Worked better then I thought. Summary: 5 Stars
Remote took me only 5 minutes to program. It controls my 58" Plasma, Yamaha receiver, blue ray, cable box, wii and 360. It does exactly what I needed it to do and I didn't have to punch in codes. Great button layout too. Makes it easy to use for guests. I would highly recommend this remote!!
Digital camera Review: Awesome remote, set up a pain Summary: 5 Stars
I have to say that I am very pleased with this remote. As others have mentioned the set up is challenging, and I ran into problems getting the inputs to work properly for my DVD player. It ended up being a problem with the TV not using exactly what was showing in the Device menu. Of course to find that out required that I call the Logitech customer service center, and I was thoroughly impressed with them. They answered my call promptly and the guy spent probably 40 minutes on the phone with me trying to resolve the issues and get the remote working properly. Others have complained about the layout of the design, that's probably more a personal issue. I was already used to my Hughes DirectTV/DVR remote and the Logitech remote mirror the layout so it feels quite comfortable to me. In the end I'm very happy with this purchase and I finally only have 1 remote instead of three.
Digital camera Review: Awesome. Supports every device. Summary: 5 Stars
I previously had tried "device-centric" universal learning remote controls, but they always failed to work with every device. I use a lot of not well known brands like Soundmatters Fullstage Mainstage HD as my A/V receiver and no name DVD players, and I am sometimes able to use cheaper universal remote controls by learning button by button the original remote into the universal. But they never supported one or another of my components even with learning. The Harmony 670 instead is "activity-centric" and although I personally had no problems pressing TV, Power, Input, Audio, Power, Input, DVD, Play to watch a movie, Now I just press one button "Watch a Movie" and everything is done for me. All appropriate devices are turned on, all correct inputs are selected, and I'm watching my movie quickly and easily. Plus, the remote is easy to use for guests who might not know how to operate your components. They just click on the appropriate ACTIVITY button (Watch TV, Play a Movie, Listen to Music, Play Nintendo Wii, etc) and the action happens automatically. And if for some reason something becomes out of sync, all you do is press HELP and it fixes the problem almost instantly. The only challenge is programming it via the computer, and even that, really isn't a challenge at all. Just tell it what model your TV, DVD player, VCR, or other component, and it asks you how you like to use them and then it upgrades the remote for you. It totally supports all name brands and all of my lesser known brands. It handles my Soundmatters Mainstage HD unit perfectly when my previous Universal R5 and R7 did not. I used to use a universal for almost everything and my Tivo remote for watching TV, and this Harmony 670 remote uses the same form factor as my beloved Tivo remote. It's comforable to hold, has the "peanut" form factor, and the most commonly used buttons are thumb pressable for easy one handed operation. It's caused me to retire my Tivo remote. Great user interface and overall a great remote. Only downside is the 30 minutes you'll need to spend programming it on your computer (PC or Mac), but by having that computer interface you gain a huge advantage in the huge numbers of components and models in the database and the infinite upgradability with it. Get this remote!
