Digital camera reviews of Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen

Digital camera Review: A nice remote...but
Summary: 3 Stars

This remote does have a level of awesomeness in terms of looks and what it's supposed to do. And the customer service is fabulous, that is, if you manage to troubleshoot your remote during the first 3 months when it is still free. However, be aware of particular quirks in the remote that do not go away even after the "breaking in" period. Customer service is particularly valuable for advanced settings like delay time, eliminating built-in communications between components that interfere with the remote radar, etc. These are problems that would be difficult for an owner, even one who is technologically savvy like myself, to troubleshoot. But, after a period of everything working as it should, the old problems seem to return--one's like close captioning on the TV when I want to mute the TV speakers and use my surround sound or the Sony dvd player not turning off. Okay, so you take your Sony remote and press the "on/off" toggle to send the radar signal to the Harmony while it's plugged into your computer, which is the only way to get the universal remote to turn the Sony BD350 off. But why do the settings not stay the way they should and you have to keep pressing the help button? And even then, the darn thing will work for awhile and then revert to the same old problem? I don't have an answer because I am outside my 3 month setting up period and all calls for logitech assistance will now cost me.

Digital camera Review: A remote from hell
Summary: 1 Stars

The remote worked pretty well until I needed to call tech support, after which it became useless. Tech support (if you can reach them) is largely incompetent. I'd return it if only I could.

Digital camera Review: A true all in one!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first review for anything I have bought on Amazon.com. I had to do it because of all the 3 star and less reviews I had read before purchasing this remote....they are very wrong. I can only assume that any compatibility problems anyone had are mostly due to not knowing how to operate the software and change button actions. The greatest feature of this remote is its ability to learn ANY command that your original remote can offer. I am a fairly tech savvy person, and it took me approx. 10 attempts to set everything set up exactly the way I needed it. I have a PS3, DirecTV HD receiver, Samsung Blu-Ray Home Theater, and Samsung 55' Led TV...and I no longer need any of the original remotes to control anything.
Yes...it took a little time and effort to get it right, but I can control ALL aspects of each unit now with this one remote. This includes all menus for each device, including Ipod & Netflix controls on my HT and ALL commands on my PS3. The key to getting the proper set up is just trial and error. You can add new commands, delete ones you might not use, and "teach" the remote a new command that it doesn't already know..ex. I had to "teach" the remote the (-) dash button on my DirecTV remote and a couple of other buttons for each device. You shouldn't have to teach it many commands, due to the fact that you enter the model # for each device into the software and it downloads the info of each device to program itself. You will need to play around with the touch screen buttons to see which ones you will need to assign there. All "Activities" are completely customizable, you can even change the names of the activities if you want. Battery life is very good, it can easily go two days without recharging.
I have had the remote for about three months now, and the only cons I have found are:
1) As others have said, sometimes when switching "Activities" it may not switch something to the correct input. However, the HELP button will help you fix this, and it will remember it's mistakes so that it won't happen next time. Also, if you have the TV on when attempting to use the "Watch TV" activity...it will toggle the power off and the other devices on. But this is not a big deal if you have the remote set up with "power toggle" buttons programmed somewhere on the touch screen.
2) The only other con is the time I spent getting it set up just right. But, as you will see, it is well worth the time once you get it right and all your other remotes begin collecting dust in a drawer somewhere.
I would 100% recommend this remote to anyone who, like me, was sick of having three remotes on their coffee table all the time. If you have any problems with anything, Logitech's customer service is excellent. They can even make changes to your setup for you in order to make this remote function properly. If you are looking for a all-in-one for a descent price....you will not be disappointed with the Harmony One.

Digital camera Review: A very good Universal remote
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my first purchase of an Universal remote. I use this for my HDTV, DVD player and my Cable box and so far it has worked fine. Though i have some issues with charging the battery, i am very satisfied with the actual functionality of this product. It takes a while to get used to know how to control all your entertainment products. But once you get used to it, it works like a charm. Suffice to say that this is probably the most sophisticated universal remote on the market. It is bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. If you are looking for the best universal remote in the market, this is the one that you should consider. I am sure you wont be disappointed with it.

Digital camera Review: A wonderful device...
Summary: 5 Stars

I've owned prior generations of various high-end universal remotes, but this one is easily the best. It comes with software that is linked to their website, so you can save and edit all your settings... and then download updates to your remove by-way of the USB cable that comes with it. I also found their free 90 tech support to be very good. They could make changes to my remote which I would the download.

Using the remote is a dream. If something doesn't come on, one merely hits the "help" button and you then fix the problem by answering some simple yes or no questions.

I use it to control all sorts of things... including digital music devices.

My only gripe, and it's a small one that others have harped on, is that it's IR-based so you have to point it at the devices.
