Digital camera reviews of Logitech Harmony Xbox 360 RemoteDigital camera Review: A couple things you should know Summary: 5 Stars
First off, I LOVE this remote, don't get me wrong. But instead of repeating all the awesome features and reviews already plastered all over this page, I'd just like to point out a couple things you might want to know before buying this remote:
1) There is a (very short) delay between pressing a key and sending the IR signal. For most uses this is a non-issue, but for TiVo it's quite annoying. In short, it causes you to always be late resuming playing from fast-forwarding, even with the TiVo's built in skip-back feature. While some of this remote's delays/timings can be modified (like the time between macro commands), this is flaw and cannot be fixed.
2)If you don't have an xbox360, there *IS* a reason to get this over the 550: There are MORE buttons. X, Y, A, and B. I use Y and B for the coveted "List" and "Live TV" buttons, which are printed right next to the keys.
Digital camera Review: A great remote, even a few years later Summary: 3 Stars
I've had this remote for a couple of years now and I'm still in love with it. It makes managing all of my home theater components so easy. But not everything is all sunshine and rainbows.
Like I said I have had this remote for awhile, and time has not been particularly friendly to my beloved remote. Many of the buttons need to be pressed a few times for them to register now. This is annoying most especially when watching recorded shows from my DVR, the FFW button is almost useless. I have resorted to bringing back the old cable remote to control my tv shows again. I know this is because I have used the remote so much, and after a few years wear and tear is to be expected.
Fair warning: treasure your early times with this remote, it works like a charm, but one day you too could resort to using multiple remotes again. It's a horrible thought, but all the same it is a reality I'm facing now.
Digital camera Review: A must have to reduce remote clutter. Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I recently purchased a new tv, surround sound system and an XBOX 360. Needless to say we were happy with our setup but not happy at all with having to use 5 different remotes to change input settings on the tv, etc, etc. I saw this remote in Best Buy and did some online research. Although it was pricey I went ahead and got it from Best Buy for 129.99 (gift cards are a wonderful excuse to buy a new toy). I have never paid this much money for a remote and my wife was not too keen on the idea, but I will say that after just one night of use I find it well worth the money. Setting up my remote intially was a bit difficult since my Norton antivirus and firewall were not letting the computer talk to the remote via usb. Deactivating both of those solved that problem. Once the two devices were talking the setup process is easy. The program walks you through step by step what to do. After you are done telling it what you have, model numbers, inputs, etc the remote is programmed and you are off and running. The remote does what it says it will do. I now have one remot to control all of my gear and I love it. The rest of my remotes were immediatey placed in a drawer. The remote is also user configurabel so you can tell it how long you want the backlighting to stay on, etc. If you have a 360 and other gear this is a great remote that will replace all of your other ones.
Digital camera Review: A real pain at first... Summary: 3 Stars
When I first got this controller I was disappointed. Setting it up was a pain and it took me a couple hours to get it working how I wanted. Once you finish the setup process though, it's great. I love this controller and can't imagine going back to before. I highly recommend it, but you need to be at least a little electronics savy to get through the setup phase. Otherwise, I think you'll just give up and return it.
Pros:
+ All-in-one controller, works with pretty much anything.
+ Macros functions are very cool and handy.
+ Xbox 360 focus on some functionality is great. (if you have a 360)
Cons:
- Hard to setup initially.
- Buttons are a bit small and the layout could be better
- Macros don't always work right.
Digital camera Review: A remote that can LITERALLY do everything!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I must admit that I was a little apprehensive about this product at first. BUT after programming my DVD player, Xbox 360, Sony AV Receiver, Pioneer Plasma, and digital cable box (motorola), I sing praises about this product.
The thing that really amazed me about this product is that you can set up "Activities" like "Watch DVD 5.1" and the remote can literally be programmed to turn on any of your devices. For example, for this Activity, I hit the Watch DVD 5.1 button and the remote turns on my DVD player (Sony), my Pioneer plasma, my Sony AV receiver...and on top of all that it is programmed to open the DVD slot so that I can put in the DVD of my choice; it will go to the Video Input that I tell it to go to; it will MUTE my TV volume (I do this because the sound will come from my 5.1 speaker system), and go to the DVD setting on my AV receiver.
Granted, it does take time to program the remote. But once done, remote is programmed it work likes like charm.
I highly recommend this product. Additionally, it is preprogrammed to work with your XBOX 360.
