If this remote was refurbished then you certainly could not tell by looking at it when it arrived. It was original looking packaging with all the normal documentation, packaging and software materials. The remote works fantastically and controls all my components perfectfully. I think the functional layout and feel of this remote is outstanding. It rests nicely in the palm of your hand, and the button size is just right, allowing your thumb to comfortably reach nearly all frequently-used buttons. It is fairly easy to program, with the computer software walking you through the settings required for each controlled device. Unlike some of the fancy color-screen remotes, this one can last for several months on one set of batteries. One cool extra--it will automatically light-up at the slightest bump, if it's been at rest for a while. I was so satisfied that I just bought my second one last month, since the first one was finally wearing out after about 4 years ("1" button stopped working).Digital camera Review: Far exceeded expectations

I haven't the words for how awesome this remote is.
To set it up, you plug it into your computer and install a small bit o' software. It takes you to a web-based UI which knows about every piece of electronic equipment ever invented since Edison. You configure the different activities you want to do and how you like to do them (e.g., do you like to use your xbox as a dvd player, or not?). You zap the info onto the remote and you're good to go.
It really works, and very well. And everything is totally configurable. And the xbox controlling works perfectly too. It's very attractive and has a nice feel and a cool green glow when you need it.
