Digital camera reviews of Logitech Harmony Xbox 360 RemoteDigital camera Review: Best. Remote. Ever. Summary: 5 Stars
I have a friend who has this remote and he has always said how great it was. I was tired of constantly swapping between the four remotes I have for various things, including my Xbox 360 and its HD-DVD player, and happened to get a $50 Amazon Gift Card. So I knew just what to get.
I received it today, and spent a couple hours personalizing and playing with it. It found all my components, even my cable companies Digital Cable/HD-DVR box made by Motorola, without a problem. It made pre-set "activites", which I have found to be one of the best ideas in remote control history.
I needed to set some buttons (like a button for my DVR recordings), but it was all easy to do, and plenty of buttons to assign jobs to.
I now have it just about perfect. I am still learning all the tricks, but as I have told several people so far, "I did not think they could make a remote cool, but somehow they did it."
Could not say enough good things, comes with two sets of batteries (Duracell brand), amazing PC software, the USB cable, and everything you need. $80 might sound like a lot for a remote, but even after one night this has already made my entertainment experience A LOT better.
Great for use with your 360 as well, seems to be more responsive than my standard remotes.
Digital camera Review: Better than some of the more expensive remotes in the Harmony lineup Summary: 4 Stars
I own this remote and another more expensive one in the Logitech Harmony lineup. If you own an Xbox 360, I highly recommend this product. It is an excellent value and well designed from the standpoint of both usability and ergonomics.
The lighted keypad is very helpful for viewing in a dark room, and the activities button is a godsend. I use that button to run macros for various things such as watching a DVD movie, watching satellite TV, or playing a game. The best part of the macro is not having to turn off each item separately on the way to bed. Just one click on the power button and I'm done. I also find the controller buttons for the XBOX 360 interface moderately useful, especially when playing music.
One caveat, and the reason I didn't award five stars - my first remote's LCD screen shattered when it was knocked off the coffee table onto a tile floor - a distance of about 16 inches. While I realize I should have been more careful, I would also expect a little more durability from a remote control, as it is inevitable the thing is going to get squashed under someone's [...] or trampled on at some point.
Digital camera Review: Broke Summary: 1 Stars
This crap broke in like 4 months.
Before that it was ok. It was annoying having to switch from TV to DVR.
Digital camera Review: Buy Harmony 550 instead Summary: 4 Stars
I came close to buying the 360 model but I found out a few things. You might notice that the Xbox 360 harmony control looks a lot like the Harmony 550. Well it's because it's almost exactly the same thing. Here's the difference. The 550 has more buttons. The AXBY buttons on the Xbox model are dedicated to Xbox 360. 550 model has extra programmable buttons. The 550 is also in a different color. Also the 550 can control your 360 but allows you to control more devices. I seriously recommend this remote for replacing all your other remotes and you can read my full review of the harmony brand controllers under the 550.
Digital camera Review: Can't live without it! Summary: 5 Stars
I am not into electronics really so it was my husband who decided we needed this remote. What a lifesaver. We can't live without it. This is our second remote that we purchased. When our first one called it quits on us, we had a week of hell until the new one came. This completely eliminates the need for multiple remotes. No more searching under the couch cushions or keeping track of multiple remotes. Although it is pricey for a universal remote, it is one of the best investments ever! I cannot say enough good things about it.
