Digital camera reviews of Logitech Illuminated Ultrathin Keyboard with BacklightingDigital camera Review: Almost perfect...but Summary: 3 StarsI bought this keyboard because I wanted a backlit keyboard. In my opinion, all keyboards should have, as this one does, *optional* backlighting. It executes backlighting very well with three levels of intensity plus off. This keyboard has a great feel and is absolutely silent EXCEPT for the space bar. All the other keys have a great, quiet, laptop feel and are virtually silent. For some reason, the space bar seems to use a completely different design. It is LOUD! Not only that, it requires a very firm and definite thumb stroke to get a space. It is possible to get a LOUD sound from the space bar and still not get a space. If I had to work next to someone using this keyboard and doing a lot of typing, I would definitely spend the whole time wearing my headphones because the incessant sound of the space bar would drive me batty.
These are the issues (in order) that cost this almost-perfect keyboard two stars from me:
1. Horrible space bar as noted above (What were they thinking at Logitech with respect to the [brilliant] design of the other keys?)
2. This is strictly a USB keyboard. It will not work with the USB connector plugged into a PS2 adapter. Too bad for users like me that have multiple computers plugged into an older KVM.
3. The palm pad is completely superfluous. The keyboard would be more compact, hence nicer, without it.
4. The clear plastic edge is just, well, stupid.
5. The FN key, necessary for mutimedia and other extended functions, requires the right hand to operate.
If I could keep the keyboard layout, key function and backlighting and combine that with (especially the space bar of) my other favorite (but flawed) keyboard, the Kensington K64365, THAT would truly be the *perfect* keyboard. This one, though some features are 'keepers', definitely is not.
Digital camera Review: Eric Summary: 5 StarsBeginning with IBM clickity keyboards in the 80s, I've been through many keyboards, but this one is easily the best I have owned so far. It is high quality and provides the exact 'laptop' keystroke style and feel I was looking for. More so, I needed a keyboard that would help in low light conditions, but I was skeptical of backlit keyboards. Its backlighting design turns out to be perfect, no glare or lighting overkill, and has very a simple, single key brightness control. Its control/functions keys, something I was not really looking for, turned out to be very useful, especially volume and mute keys which are easy to access. The software to modify the function keys is quite good and easy to use. I type at an average speed, so I have not run into any issues with higher speed typing, as noted in other reviews. After several months of use, I have zero regrets - a very high end, professional keyboard. E.
Digital camera Review: Logitech Illuninated keyboard is a winner! Summary: 5 StarsMy son gave me a Saitek illuminated keyboard a couple of years ago and I have been very pleased with it. At first, I thought it would be just a cheap, gymicky keyboard, however, I soon found I was wrong. The Saitek was heavy, rugged and looked great. (Here's where the Logitech comes in.)
After moving some computers around recently, I needed a keyboard for an older H/P desktop that I was bringing out of retirement. I often work in a darkened room and was searching the internet to see what was out there in the way of illuminated keyboards. I was pretty happy with the Saitek and prepared to buy another one just like it, when I came across the Logitech.
Man, this thing blows away the Saitek! MUCH classier looking and SO thin! Mine is sitting on a black-grained side table in front of a new 24" Dell flat panel monitor and it looks GREAT. I really like the soft, white character illumination without the surrounding space between keys lit up in color as the Saitek is. And, not only does it look good, but the touch is better than any keyboard I have ever used.
This keyboard looks great wherever it is placed and the touch is super!
Worth every penny and more! Can't say enough good about it.
Digital camera Review: Worth the purchase Summary: 5 StarsPros: it is very bright and easy to read at night, you can also control how bright the keys get. It is really thin also and light weight. The key and buttons are super smooth, you can't even hear them when you are keying in numbers or typing words. Very quite. Very nice design and very user friendly.
Cons: it isn't wireless
Digital camera Review: Better than advertised ! Summary: 5 StarsJust as advertised. Needed an illuminated keyboard for a dark room and this fits the bill. The pluses are key stroke touch, availability of several programs it will take you directly to, fits on the desk just fine. Purchased along with a new MX100 mouse which together makes a great package. Have owned about three months now and am very satisfied.
