Digital camera reviews of Logitech MX 518 High Performance Optical Gaming Mouse (Metal)

Digital camera Review: Good mouse
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall this is a good mouse, I am not disappointed with it at all after about a month of use. My wife complains that it is too big for her small hands and she accidentally hits the back button while browsing the internet all the time. This is also the first mouse I've had that was ergonomically shaped, it is kind of awkward to get used to. I am most comfortable holding it in a way that makes it impossible to reach the forward left side button or the increase sensitivity button, but I'm getting used to it.

Digital camera Review: Excellent mouse for gaming and casual use...
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned this mouse for 3 months and have nothing but great things to say.

First, I have yet to find a mouse more suited for gaming. It's design is simple and intuitive, allowing for both comfort and functionality.

I am an avid gamer, but my "gaming rig" is also the family computer. Because of this I was looking for a mouse that would allow for improved functionality in gaming without hindering simplicity of use, as my wife is not experienced in the use of a mouse with 50 buttons and a joystick attached.

Concerning gaming:

The software provided to program functionality into the extra buttons is extremely straightforward and easy to use. I was immediately able to customize it to my liking, without any learning curve whatsoever. Furthermore, the settings allow the mouse functionality to be gaming-specific, so that programming a button to perform a function in a game does not interfere with the functionality of the mouse in an every-day situation. Essentially, setting the "back" button to execute a macro in a game does not keep it from performing the standard "back" function in a browser window. The ability to change mouse sensitivity on the fly is extremely useful, and the software also allows you to tailor the various sensitivity settings to suit your needs.

I was also happy to find that the mouse is extremely comfortable, even after hours of continuous use. Not only does the design compensate for my rather large, clunky hands, but I was surprised to find that the material used in the palm rest stays cool even after hours of use.

Concerning day-to-day use:

It maintains a fairly standard design that anyone that has used a multi-button mouse will be familiar with. The thumb buttons perform "forward" and "back" functions in browsers and other windows. The logitech software can be used to program non-gaming related functions, as well, including (but not limited to) adjusting the scroll wheel between single line, mutliple line and full page scrolling. There is not much to be said in this category, other than all of the above gaming related issues apply to day-to-day usage. It's a very comfortable mouse that is pleasant and easy to use, both in and outside of gaming.

Overall, I would highly recommend this mouse if you are looking for a straightforward product without too much complexity that is above all else, reliable.

Digital camera Review: Great mouse for gaming and all around especially for the price!
Summary: 5 Stars

Great for gaming and all around. I love the sensitivity adjustment buttons right on the mouse it's great for FPS games. Great mouse for the price as well, would recommend to anyone looking for a nice gaming mouse.

Digital camera Review: A Beast among Mice...
Summary: 4 Stars

I upgraded this from an old $20 Logitech that lasted 2+ years and now resides in my cube. I wanted a new mouse for gaming and graphic design and bought and returned 3 mice before I settled on this one. Other mice I tried but didn't like were:
- The Razer Lachesis (too complicated)
- and the G5 (hated the side buttons, weird shape)

This mouse fits my XL hand perfectly and the side buttons are awesome. The material is a super smooth plastic so all the grime and hand oil wipes right off of it. I can already tell this mouse will last me a very long time.

The motion is perfect and the scroll wheel is great.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I would love to have a button on the right side of the mouse like my old logitech. Most mouses don't have this which is why it was so hard to upgrade from my old one after I was used to it.

All in all for the money, I would say this is the best buy I could find in 1 years time.

From my experience Logitech just dominates any other computer accessory company I have seen or tried.

Digital camera Review: Gamer Mouse
Summary: 5 Stars

Very nice mouse, glad I purchased this mouse. It was affordable and very practical to use. I wanted a cable connection versus wireless on the notion that I do not like charging batteries to use a mouse. The mouse is very accurate and there's even a button to change sensitivity on the fly if needed. I couldn't ask for more as it fulfills my needs in FPS and the extra buttons for other games. I am a WoW player, and I click-to-heal so this mouse made my life a lot easier and more convenient due to the side buttons.
