Digital camera reviews of Logitech Optical Notebook Mouse Plus (USB)Digital camera Review: Died quickly Summary: 2 Stars
I would have loved this mouse had it not died within three months of my owning it. It fit well in my hand, and I was able to be used on most any surface. Unfortunately, it began dying while I was using it. For a little while, I just had to unplug and plug it back in and it would work. Then, it just stopped working all together. The next time I have some money, I'm going to invest a little more in a mouse.
Digital camera Review: Dimensions and performance are perfect for me Summary: 5 Stars
I've used and abused this mouse everyday for about 3 years, on 2 different laptops, and its performance has been flawless. Hard to believe after all the varieties of mice I've used over the years that one this cheap would out perform them all. The cord has just the right stiffness - it never gets in the way or gets tangled up. It's almost like it's not there. It plugs firmly into the usb port on both of my Dell laptops. It works on practically ANY surface... I haven't used a real mousepad in years. I like the scroll wheel - it's the kind that moves in measured bumps, as opposed to a totally smooth motion. The buttons are not oversensitive, but not hard to click, either. And the size is perfect, too. Dimensions are roughly 3 5/8" (94mm) long, 1 1/4" (32mm) at its highest point, and 1 7/8" (48mm) wide.
Digital camera Review: Does all I require of it Summary: 5 Stars
The USB functionality is perfect. The optical works on any solid surface. The scroll wheel is good. And the mouse is small enough to be easily packed and ported, but it's not so small it gets lost in your hand. It should work out great for anyone who wants it as a notebook accessory (as long as they aren't intending to use it for serious gaming).
Digital camera Review: Everything about this mouse was great - for 6 months Summary: 3 Stars
This Logitech Optical Notebook Mouse matches my ideal mouse in every category. It's affordable. It's the right size and weight for my hands - not too small like some notebook mice, but not bulky like many desktop mice I've had either. It felt quick in my hands and sailed over most mouse surfaces with little to no resistance. In fact, I found this mouse extremely good for fast-paced first-person shooter gaming, though admittedly that was only a minor portion of its use to me. I also liked the feel of the scroll-wheel, with just the right grip and rolling speed. And most of all, the mouse was compact and portable, with a convenient roll-up-and-click cord.
Being a corded mouse of course has its advantages. No batteries, first of all. Not that batteries are too expensive (I could use rechargeable ones), but the fact is that they can die on you at any time, often when it seems most inconvenient or you may not have a spare set around. And in my personal experience, the other advantage of corded mice over wireless is assurance of signal with no interruption (not that that's a frequent issue with today's wireless mice, but it's worth noting).
However! I bought this mouse in late February 2009. It's now mid September and, this mouse is no longer reliable. It's shown some signs of life, but I'm pretty sure I have to replace it. See, with rolling up and unrolling the cord at least 1-2, if not more times per day over the last 6 months, the point where the cord stops rolling around the base of the mouse and turns to latch onto the bottom of the mouse got repeatedly bent and twisted in every direction, and the wiring just hasn't held up - it won't transfer signal anymore, rendering this mouse useless. It's a shame, that the way this device is meant to be packed up and put away ended up leading to its demise.
I am sure I got $14's use and more out of this mouse, but I frankly didn't expect it to die so soon. I still have faith in Logitech's products, but I will not buy another of this same model. Maybe if they made an identical one but wireless...
Digital camera Review: Exactly what I needed for travel Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted a small optical mouse to use when traveling and this one looked to be my best choice. I have had a chance to use it quite a bit over the last 6 months and I have no complaints. It's a great little mouse, that fits nicely in my bag and no loose wires because the cord wraps around it and clicks in. A good choice for travel use or those with limited space.
