Digital camera reviews of Logitech Optical Notebook Mouse Plus (USB)Digital camera Review: Cool Little Mouse For Laptops Summary: 5 StarsI primarily got this mouse for my mother, who hates using the track-pad on the laptop. This mouse does what it is supposed to do, just like any other mouse. This is one of those products that is just what it is, and nothing more- cheap and versatile. It does its job.
*** IF you have big hands, this may be a little too small for you. But, if you do not, it's fine.
Digital camera Review: low price -> simple mouse Summary: 4 StarsThis mouse is very simple, keeping with it's low price. The scroll wheel is a bit noisy.
Wrap around chord is a nice feature for someone who would take this along with the laptop
Digital camera Review: Noisy laptop mouse with unbelievable packaging Summary: 2 StarsI bought this mouse because every laptop mouse I have had seems to last only about 6 months and this one has great reviews. So far, after two weeks, the mouse is working fine but I cannot use it in a conference or meeting because the scroll wheel is so noisy that it would draw attention. I have never heard such a noisy wheel. I was also very disappointed that the people at Logitech have absolutely no concern for the environment. The excessive amount of heavy duty plastic packaging seems more appropriate for the crown jewels than a cheap mouse. I needed a heavy duty knife to cut through the sealed plastic and then the sharp plastic edge cut my finger. In short, I would not buy this mouse again.
Digital camera Review: Mouse Pad with Cord Summary: 4 StarsThis mouse works well but the cord wind-up feature of this mouse really doesn't work. There's nothing to keep the cord wound, like a little locking device, once you initially wind it. The mouse itself is very good, though. It's much smaller than other "mice" I've used and works very well.
Digital camera Review: Tracks poorly, noisy Summary: 3 StarsIt is hard to stand against 190 primarily very positive reviews, but then I followed these reviews to purchase this rather disappointing mouse and need to rebuke them.
From positives, the mouse has a good shape and size for a notebook size and uses up its outline for concealing the cord that wraps around the base of the mouse. Also the scroll wheel is fine.
The big negative is the lack of responsiveness. The mouse has the worst tracking of the wired notebook mice I tested in parallel, including Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse, Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 and Iogear GME222A Mouse. Notably, given that notebooks are used in a variety of environments, a notebook mouse should have a capability of tracking on a variety of surfaces. The Logitech mouse had difficulty tracking within my standard environment, seemingly because of the dark color of my table. On the surface of a CD, the Logitech mouse was most often unable to start, while Iogear had some difficulty there and Microsoft mice had no difficulty whatsoever. When the dedicated Logitech software is installed, additional lack of responsiveness of computer to the mouse develops, where the computer and cursor repeatedly disregard, in an absolutely infuriating fashion, any movements of the Logitech mouse. The Logitech site advices reinstalling the SetPoint software. The interesting twist to this is that it is impossible to uninstall that software using the standard Windows infrastructure. To accomplish the uninstallation, you need to use the fortunately free Revo Uninstaller. Reinstallation of the SetPoint in a special boot mode for Windows and tweaking of the SetPoint settings can reduce but not eliminate lethargy in the response. Eventually, I uninstalled SetPoint for good, but still repeatedly went to other mice to be able to work and, finally, gave up on this mouse completely.
To sum up, I advise to skip this mouse. Myself, I ended up going with the wired Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse 3000, which is a delight by comparison. I did not consider wireless mice, because of my interest in responsiveness. The Iogear mouse has a better tracking than Logitech, but is less convenient to hold in your hand. Overall, I would still choose it over Logitech. Admittedly, there exist still bottom of the barrel no-name mice that have even worse tracking than the Logitech Notebook Mouse Plus.
Update: The circumstances of working at different locations have forced me to use the Logitech mouse a bit more and indeed, as some have noted, it is noisy to the point of distracting the user. My experiences give me quite a perspective on the validity of overall customer ratings and this on the site that, in my experience, does not censor the reviews or ratings to skew the outcome.
