Digital camera reviews of Logitech Premium Notebook Headset

Digital camera Review: C+ for sound, B for comfort, A for packability
Summary: 4 Stars

I work from home and use these for listening to music while I work, and also for VoIP calls via X-ten and BroadVoice. I need to wear them for 9+ hours at a time. My PC is a Thinkpad T60.

The audio quality is good but not great -- not audiophile.

The noise-cancelling mic works very well. I tried them both plugged in directly and through the USB adapter. When using the adapter, the sound for other people on phone calls was muddy and indistinct; when I changed back to direct connection, the sound is excellent.

This is the first behind-the-ear headset I've owned or used. The comfort isn't bad, but after about 2 hours, my ears start hurting. They also interfere with my glasses. I plan to return them and keep looking, based on this one issue and the fact that I need something that will be comfortable all day.

Another reviewer commented that his audio plugs were not color coded, but mine are.

Digital camera Review: Clumsy, weighty, dumbells.
Summary: 2 Stars

The components--earpieces and microphone--are actually good quality. The design, however, is plain stupid. If you wear glasses, just forget it.

That being said, if you want a pair of dumbbells hanging on your ears, then go ahead. The earpieces do pivot and have a minimum range of horizontal adjustment. But adjusting them so the band doesn't push the back of your ears out is not conducive to best audio quality due the pear shaped design of the earpiece, which fit the ear best in the upright pivotal position.

Digital camera Review: Comfortable headphone set
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this headphone set to use for dictation. It has worked great and is very comfortable. I also use it for listening to music and the sound is clear and crisp. It has an attachment so that you can mute if you are dictating which has a clip to attach to a shirt or a pocket. The microphone can be lifted out of the way anytime you desire. It came with a case, however, I do not use the case so will not review that part.

Digital camera Review: Comfortable, compact, but terrible microphone
Summary: 3 Stars

I've given up on having to yell for the other person to hear me. Need to find a new headset.

Digital camera Review: Compact and Versatile
Summary: 5 Stars

I had the same headset for several years and this was a replacement purchase after an unfortunate accident severed the microphone cable. I use this headset primarily for VOIP calls with great results. The newer version of this headset is USB only, but I prefer this version which includes a USB adapter, but is an analog headset. I have built adapters to allow use with both Cisco and Polycom desktop IP phones. When I hit the road I simply unplug from the adapter and take the headset with me in the included hard-side carrying case which also holds the USB adapter.

In addition to using the headset with the home made adapters for Cisco and Polycom phones, I have also used this headset with the Cisco softphone, Microsoft Office Communicator, Skype, Google Voice, and calling from Gmail. The USB adapter has been used with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Linux (Ubuntu).

This headset is comfortable enough for spending several hours a day on the phone and the sound quality is good. I would recommend this item to anyone looking for a combination analog and USB headset.
