Digital camera reviews of Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere Compact Speakers for iPod (Black)Digital camera Review: Awesome! Especially for the price. Summary: 5 Stars
Great product with great sound. Well worth the price. One thing would improve the product and that would be a hold or lock button so that it doesn't turn on while in transit and waste the battery charge. Other than that, this product is great.
Digital camera Review: BUY THESE SPEAKERS!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I researched a million things before buying this product. It was a little more than what I wanted to spend but sooo worth the money. I never write reviews but I had to on this. It is INCREDIBLE!! The actual speakers charge tehmselves so you can unplug the speakers and take them outside even without a plug. They are sturdy unlike a lot of other cheap ones I have seen. I am so glad that I spent the money. If you are even considering a set of speakers - look noi further. I am a very picky person - even more so when it comes to my music. They are amazing!!
Digital camera Review: Best of breed at this price point. Summary: 4 Stars
Believe me, I've tried a lot of portable speakers for my PMPs. This is definitely the best in its price range. Right up front, though, I have to confess that I don't own any Apple players and that I haven't tried this with an Ipod or other Apple product. This may make a difference, because (quite frankly) Apple players just don't sound very good and they have low output. I tend to use the Pure-Fi with a Cowon player, or with a portable CD player.
So, let's take a look at some positive (and negative) features of the Pure-Fi:
1. Construction is very good...quite solid. The zippered case is much higher quality than you would expect at the price and has semi-rigid sides. Unlike earlier models, the charger and cables pack inside quite neatly.
2. The battery life is about average, but it recharges pretty quickly and plays well while charging. There is a battery indicator on top.
3. Unlike many other portable speakers designed for iPods, this unit has an auxiliary input (a 1/8" stereo jack) for connecting non-iPod units. It works great! And it handles fairly high level inputs, so you can crank up the player to reduce background noise.
4. I don't have any idea how the Apple PMP adapters that came with it work. As I said...no Apple PMPs for me.
5. The sound is excellent FOR THE PRICE AND SIZE. After all, this is a relatively inexpensive and portable unit. (Considering that you get multiple adapters, a remote control, a nice carry case, and other features, this is a real bargain.) However, don't let this dissuade you from buying it. I have not heard better sound from ANY PMP speaker system anywhere near its size for less than $300. Believe me, it will impress people when you pull it out and crank it up. (It will also get angry calls from the hotel's front desk.)
6. Unlike some portable units, there are no rotating speakers, clutters of cables, hinges, or other fragile design features. This is basically a brick with fold-out legs (which make it very stable). You will lose some stereo separation due to the design, but I don't believe that this is a major sacrifice for a set of portable speakers.
In conclusion, you really should consider the Pure-Fi Anywhere if you need a truly portable set of speakers for your PMP. I spent three weeks in Cyprus last year and the Pure-Fi was good enough that it earned a place in my 50-lb. luggage limit. Definitely the best of breed.
Digital camera Review: Best portable system but weak volume Summary: 5 Stars
Overall this is the best portable system for the price. My car stereo broke down, I was going on an 4.5 hour trip (9 hours roundtrip) and I didn't have enough time to replace the unit so I bought this little gem on impulse. So far it has lasted the 4.5 hours with the volume at full blast (a lot of road noise) and the battery indicator dropping to two out of three bars. The volume was lower than I hoped but I imagine they clipped the maximum volume to spare the speakers and extend the battery. Others say there is no place to store the ipod with the case but they do supply two straps to hold the remote and presumably a old gen nano and really your more likely listening to the ipod in transit anyway. Also some question the non-replaceable battery but hey... you wouldn't be looking at this product if you didn't already own a product with a non-replaceable battery.
Digital camera Review: Best product for the Money Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love my Pure-Fi. Now you can't compare this to a Bose $400 system. But the sound quality is good, especially for the price. It is portable has decent volume. I hook it up to my laptop to listen to Pandora or Slacker. The battery life is very good. Plugged in it will also charge your IPOD while playing it. The remote works well. Overall there is nothing I would change about my Pure-Fi. $100 well spent.
