Digital camera reviews of Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere Compact Speakers for iPod (Black)

Digital camera Review: Definitely Worth The Cost
Summary: 5 Stars

Considering the price I got these for ($35 after $30MIR), these are great. I would not pay full retail price but if you can get them for $50 or less, I wouldn't hesitate. I have this paired with a 3G 8GB Nano and everything has worked well thus far, although I haven't tried playing from a playlist. The sound is more than adequate for traveling speakers. Don't expect them to sound like a THX Certified HT system. I am picky about sound quality and honestly, the sound quality of iPods are poor compared to a Zune, even though the iPod has an equalizer while the Zune doesn't. I wish this system was made for a Zune because I also have a Zune. It's nice that there's also an aux input on the back of the system, which allows you to use the speakers with a separate audio source, like other mp3 players or a laptop. The battery indicator also was added from their previous version (mm50), so that's a nice feature that lets you know how much battery life is left. I got about 8 hours yesterday, playing at about 3/4 volume. Overall, I would recommend this system to everyone who can get it for half the retail price.

Digital camera Review: Didn't Make it Past Week One
Summary: 1 Stars

I love the design, simplicity, sound, and ease of this unit--except that it didn't work for more than one week! I was so pleased at first, but then it would just stop playing mid-song. I made sure the unit was fully charged, plugged in, the iPod worked, etc, etc, but it would only play for about one minute before turning itself off. After doing some research online, it looks like this is a common malfunction of the unit, for which there is no cure. I already threw away all the packing material, so I can't get a refund. BOO!

Digital camera Review: Disappointed
Summary: 2 Stars

Although the speakers sounded awesome, the remote did not work at all. When I opened the remote control, the battery looked a bit old and a bit rusty. I spent a lot of time researching portable speakers and these were highly recommended, but I was disappointed with the non-functioning remote. I wound up returning these for a refund. I must say, though, the speakers sounded great!

Digital camera Review: Disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I got this back in Feb of 08. The speakers sound good, even at the louder volumes. I got this to play rifftrax through as a movie plays through the surround.
It worked well for a week or so. It was so nice to not have to depend on a near by outlet when using. Then I noticed that the battery wouldn't recharge. It fully recharged nicely twice. With no warning it just stopped. You can actually see it. The LEDs will freeze as they cycle. Most of the time it would freeze on 3 full LEDs. So you think it's fully charged. Nope. It's disappointing that it can't hold a charge at all. Lately I've started noticing my ipod acting funny while using the speakers. Makes me wonder if the problem is more than just the battery and maybe it can damage my ipod.
It's a good set of speakers, but with the battery feature all but absent it makes it hard to justify the premium price. I'm a big logitech fan and am very disappointed.

Digital camera Review: Disappointing for with MP3 players
Summary: 3 Stars

I have a Sandisk Sansa e280 which I love! I was very excited to get this external speaker system, especially for the rechargeable battery aspect of it! When I got my original Pure-Fi Anywhere, the unit would turn off after about 2 to 3 minutes while playing on battery power. I exchanged the unit for the new Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 and found the same behavior. What I found out was that I had to set my Sansa's auto shut-off setting to its highest setting otherwise, whatever it was set on is what the Pure-Fi goes by. Even if my Sansa is continuing to play, this setting is what the Pure-Fi went by. I'm not sure how the Pure-Fi will behave with other MP3 players that aren't iPods.

I was also very disappointed in the sound level with both the Pure-Fi and my Sansa at full volume! Not quite as loud as I expected.
