Digital camera reviews of Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe Webcam (Black)Digital camera Review: Fuzzy picture Summary: 2 Stars
I brought this webcam based on great reviews and been a current owner of a much older QuickCam Pro 4000. To my great surprise this newer webcam the image quality is just horrible, even after downloading newer driver from Logitech. Can't imagine how can older technology surpass newer one. A great disappointment!
Digital camera Review: Good Bang for the Buck. Summary: 5 Stars
I had to return my Microsoft LifeCam yesterday. I spent 75 on it at a local store but picked this one up for just under 70. Technically, I actually think this is a upgrade and the Microsoft's static and noise made it utterly unusable for me. There was nothing to be done with it so this is a big improvement because nobody wants to listen to a podcast in which their ear drums are assaulted with noise. The Deluxe is superior to my old messenger model as the video has more resolution and the microphone is better. The sound is satisfactory and negated the need for a headset. Another thing, when you go above this level of resolution you face difficulties finding places to post your videos as they have MB maximum requirements. For these reasons, I think this will be the last webcam I buy for awhile. It's a good bang for the buck.
Digital camera Review: Good Product Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this camera for two relatives that live across the country. We all have young children and I thought this would be a good way to stay in touch. The kids love it and I like this a lot better than plain phone calls. We are currently using the Skype service. The QuickCam was easily installed and works well. (We had a minor issue with MS Vista and the Logitech supplied software that was later resolved by uninstalling the Logitech software.) The built-in microphone is a great feature compared to using a headset. Image quality is okay. Logitech has a few units with the Carl Zeiss lens that I will highly recommend, however they are more expensive. If image quality is important, purchase the units with better optics. Overall the QuickCam Comm Deluxe does the job I purchased it for and I am satisfied with their performance.
Digital camera Review: Good but not that great either. Summary: 2 Stars
Granted this "WEBCAM" is better than a lot of the others out there it doesn't do as good as it should in my opinion.
Facial Tracking - it's nice but it just doesn't ALWAYS work, and it will loose tracking every few minutes and so on. If you are like me and you are tired a lot and or your eyes aren't the A typical person, another words your eyes might be slightly closed more than a wide eyes person, it wont be able to keep track of your face. Why it's not able to recognize you IDK. You should be able to program it for your face but it's only a generalized programing for a typical face, or at least what it thinks is a typical face.
Video quality - If you want to just hook this up to your computer and record some video with your friends don't bother. It's a waste. It's way to choppy to work that way, it's frame rate is set to low and you can't change it to help things out and smooth out the video. So you are stuck with choppy videos recorded.
WEB CAM - the fact this a camera that is hooked to your computer leads me to expect a lot more from this device than what's given. This is no cheap web cam but yet it is still out performed by many a small hand-held camera on the market at this point that also can be used a web cam when needed.
I should have just returned this cam but I waited to long and got tied up with work. Yeah it does it's WEB CAM part nicely and all but for the price it's a WAIST! Get a cheaper cam that will do similar, your video quality will be about the same.
If you want to be able to get video with your friends you're simply going to have to look elsewhere or you'll have choppy frames like a son of a gun.
You'd think for the price when not operating as a web cam it would be able to up it's frame rate/recording abilities and give you smoother video, but no I was wrong. I guess I expect too much from a device with a high price tag.
Digital camera Review: Good cam Summary: 4 Stars
Bought this cam for my wife since she was having problems with offbrand webcams. Easy install and setup. Only problem is it does have the built in mic (which isn't all that bad actually to my amazement). The built in mic is only an issue because it ALWAYS wants to be the primary like all others. Overall though a great camera for those who only want to plug a wire in and install software.
