Digital camera reviews of Logitech Squeezebox Duet Wi-Fi Internet Radio

Digital camera Review: Amazing Product!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love my squeezebox 3 and squeezebox duet! These units coupled with the squeezecenter software really unlock your digital music. The streaming is flawless and sound quality is also terrific. I think the squeezebox setup is much more flexible and cheaper than the alternative (i.e., sonos). The duet controller is very nice and easy to navigate with one hand. It syncs flawlessly with my Rhapsody subscription as well as my digital music collection (which is on a WHS). I would be happy to answer specific questions if you want to email me. Overall I am very pleased with my purchases and definitely plan on buying more squeezebox's to extend my music to all my rooms! Highly recommended!

Digital camera Review: Amazing Technology
Summary: 5 Stars

Logitech Squeezebox Duet Network Music System
We were looking for a product that allow us to play our Sirius radio over our whole house speaker system via our Onkyo SR705 AV Receiver. The Squeezebox Duet appeared to meet the need and delivers so much more with a wide range of no cost internet radio options. On top of it all, I can remotely access the Itunes library on my PC.

Setup was easy and if you are familiar with an Ipod, the controller will be somewhat intuitive. I have it plugged directly into an ethernet port (hard wired)so I have not evaluated the wireless connection.

I've read complaints about short battery life on the controller and it appears Logitech is trying different firmware upgrades to address the issue.

The bottom line is this is an incredible piece of technology that is a must have to complete a home entertainment system.

Digital camera Review: Amazing!
Summary: 5 Stars

Absolutely the best device to use to connect your amp to internet radio or music you have stored on your hard drive. Works completely as promised. The remote gives you so much ability to select music it is hard to explain just how cool it is. Skip the wires - get this and connect through your wireless router. Connect two cables to a digital input of your amp, download the software to your computer and listen to your favorites music right through the amp.

It is amazing!

Digital camera Review: An amazing product
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had the squeezebox duet for a couple days now and my first impressions are VERY positive. I had downloaded and installed the server software on my laptop before I received the device and that was very easy. It automatically found all the music on my laptop. After unpacking the various squeezebox pieces I first plugged in the server box and attached it to my receiver with the supplied cable. I then plugged in the dock for the remote and dropped the remote in. At first I missed the battery in the box but when the remote shut off when I took it out of the dock I figured that out. After letting the remote charge a little while I picked it up and it immediately went into an install wizard to let me set some preferences, then it searched for and found both my laptop and the squeezebox. With a few flicks of the remote I picked an album and it started playing! Setup literally took a few minutes. I already had a Pandora account (if you aren't already familiar with this free music service, you have to check it out!) and connecting to that took just entering a password. Everything was so easy.

The remote is incredibly easy to use. My wife, who is sometimes technologically challenged with our home theater remotes and her own laptop, can use the squeezebox remote with ease. I love the way it captures the Pandora track and artist info and displays the cover art on the beautiful little high-res screen. I was able to quickly select an internet radio station playing music from Israel and a talk radio station from Paris.

I suspect that this is the kind of device that either works right away or, if there are networking or setup challenges they can be frustrating. But my experience was flawless and this is just simply the coolest technology for a music lover I have ever experienced.

Digital camera Review: Apple Airport Express for $99
Summary: 4 Stars

Assuming you use iTunes and assuming you have a wireless network in your house already, there is absolutely no reason to spend the extra money on this unit when a $99 Apple Airport Express will do the job for you. I have been using one for several years now and it works flawlessly - streaming my iTunes music library to my Denon receiver over a wireless link. I can even control it from my laptop, which may be only seeing a "shared" library from another computer, again over the wireless network. I'm giving it 4 stars because it sounds like a nice system and if a user doesn't meet the iTunes/wireless prerequisites for an Airport Express, then I'm sure this is a great way to go.

(update 7/23/08) And with the additional purchase of Airfoil for about $20 (google it), you don't even need to use iTunes to stream your music to your Airport Express. I stream XM radio via the web through Airfoil to my Airport Express and into my Denon receiver. Airfoil can route any audio stream to an Airport Express on your wireless network, iTunes not required. Works great. Total cost Airport Express + Airfoil = $125. This squeezebox is way too expensive.
