Digital camera reviews of Logitech Squeezebox Wi-Fi Internet Radio and Wireless Music Player

Digital camera Review: Easy to setup, quality results
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Squeezebox to listen to FLAC encoded files from my Olive Musica music center. After waiting for over a year for the non existent Olive Sonata, I looked at several forums and concluded that the SlimServer & Squeezebox option was the only viable option at this time. After installing the SlimServer software on the Olive, I was optimistic enough about Slim Devices to buy the Squeezebox.

The Squeezebox arrived in record time. I was impressed by its compact size, sleek look, and substantial heft. I plugged it in, and it immediately detected my wireless network (an my neighbor's) and after entering my network's security code - made easy by the well designed remote, the Squeezebox displayed my music collection.

FLAC and MP3 files play flawlessly, with high quality. The larger FLAC files require a better signal strength, which is a problem only in the most remote corners of my house, and more an issue for Olive's wireless transmitter than the Squeezebox. The SlimServer web interface is a bit slow, but that's also more of an Olive issue (the Olive can be slow, and precludes the use of the latest SlimServer version).

It is a joy to have such quality, easy to use access to my music collection anywhere in the house. I'm ready to buy a second unit for my bedroom.

Digital camera Review: Everything I Expected - and More
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased the Squeezebox directly from Slim Devices through Amazon. It does exactly what it promises, providing easy wireless access from my audio system to the MP3 files on my harddrive. Even for a wireless networking novice, the menu-driven setup would be straightforward. I'm fairly proficient; it took me about 10 minutes from box to music.

Everything about it seems so logical; I was pleased that it uses the playlists already created by Windows Media. The forward-back-up-and-down menu control became intuitive after a few minutes.

After installing it, I found that I'm listening to internet radio more than my own music. There are hundreds of great choices in every music genre. I haven't installed Pandora or Rhapsody, but I suspect I might like them even better.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with the Squeezebox, and I can't think of anything that I would change about it.

Digital camera Review: Everything as advertised and more!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my second Squeezebox, the first being the excellent Duet. I am very happy with the quality and performance of both units. You just can't get a better product in this price range. I am running SqueezeCenter 7.2 on my Windows Home Server (HP-EX475)for local music, and have a Rhapsody subscription for listening through Squeeze Network. For a music enthusiast, it just doesn't get better than this.

Digital camera Review: Excellent Sound and Easy to Use
Summary: 4 Stars

My wife and I recently purchased a new stereo system and I was looking for a way to access all the music stored on our home PC. We also just started listening to the Pandora music service about a month ago. Logitech Squeezebox is exactly what I wanted for our new stereo.

Setup was a breeze. If you understand your wireless network and know how to setup a laptop then you have the skills to connect a Squeezebox client to your wireless network.

After the unit was connnected to my home network it patched itself with the latest firmware. All I had to do was hit next. Very well done.

The player also sounds amazing on my stereo and can play all my FLAC files. I'm very happy with this product and my investment.

Digital camera Review: Excellent product
Summary: 5 Stars

The Squeezebox does just what it's supposed to do: the sound quality is very good (the built-in DAC is almost as good as the one of my 800$ CD player), the initial setup took me 15 minutes to complete. Great if you want to listen to internet radio, or if ou want to get rid of the CDs in your living room - no need for a CD player any more once you have encoded your music in one of the several supported loss-less formats (such as FLAC or WAV). Of course, the product also allows you to listen to your existing mp3 collection on you stereo system. Purists can connect a separate DAC via the Squeezebox's digital output for perfect sound quality although most users won't need that.

This is a product I have long been waiting for!
