Digital camera reviews of Logitech Wireless Desktop MK 300

Digital camera Review: A good budget wireless keyboard and mouse.
Summary: 5 Stars

The Logitech Wireless Desktop MK 300 appears to be another quality product from Logitech at a relatively good price. The keyboard has all the basic functions you would need and expect plus a few programmable keys. One thing the keyboard does not have though is lights for things like caps lock or num lock. I realize this is to save battery power, but it is a minor annoyance as most word processors tell you things like this on the screen. The keyboard is also pretty thin and relatively quiet, both of which are nice. The response to the keyboard is also very fast. Every now and then I think I catch it sleeping and it takes an extra half second to connect to the computer and follow my commands, but other than that it always seems ready to go. The mouse is optical and feels like any standard mouse, it uses an invisible laser so no worries about children burning out there retinas by staring at the mouse. There is a small switch underneath the mouse to turn it off and on; which makes sense to have, for battery saving issues. Both keyboard and mouse take two battery's each and have lasted over a month of moderate usage, Logitech I believe says they should last 8 weeks, so that fits. There is a USB based antenna you do have to plug in. It has a decent length (3+ feet) cord and a little button on the end for when you initially sync everything up to the computer. You do need to install Logitech's software to make it all work it is not plug and play. I didn't have any problems with installation or software. And as far as range goes I have gotten up to 25 feet without any problems, but your mileage may vary, do you apartment/house construction materials and what not. So in conclusion if you are looking for a budget priced wireless keyboard and mouse with decent to good performance then I think you will enjoy this setup.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The MK300 is Logitech's entry-level model of wireless desktop keyboard/mouse combos.

Receiver
---------
Instead of the USB stick that is so common these days, the receiver is a small black curved plastic piece designed to sit on a desktop. It features a "connect" button which lets you pair it with the mouse and keyboard. It comes with a few feet of USB cable.

Mouse
------
The mouse is average in size and features two buttons and a scroll wheel. An on-off switch underneath allows saving battery life when not in use. The top slides open to reveal the two AA batteries. The mouse can function with only one of the batteries installed. There's not much to be said about it since it's such an ordinary mouse with basic features -- not that it's a bad thing, mind you. Everything works as expected, it's well balanced and tracks well.

Keyboard
--------
The keyboard takes two AAA batteries. It is lightweight, almost flimsy, however this does not translate at all in the typing: this is a solid keyboard designed to withstand serious typing.
The extra features are reduced to a minimum: the function keys are double-labeled with some blue print and there is an extra row of keys at the top of the keyboard for volume control and application launching. Some of the features can only be used via the Logitech software, which is Windows-only, but it's perfectly usable on a Mac or Linux as long as you don't mind not having access to the proprietary features.

Conclusion
---------
The MK300 is an inexpensive cordless set from the reference keyboard and mouse manufacturer. It does not come with any fancy features, but it excels at what it does. If you need a basic cordless desktop set, save yourself the grief and avoid the lousy no-name sets one finds in discount stores and opt for this one instead. You won't regret it.

Digital camera Review: A winning combo from Logitech

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I love my laptop; it's freed me to work in any room in the house and for that alone I'd nominate it for the greatest invention of the century. ButI don't much like the keyboard and I flat-out hate the touch pad, so I've been wanting a free-standing mouse for a while now. Along came the Logitech desktop bundle and suddenly I've got the sort of flexibility I'd been craving. They aren't kidding when they say it's ready to work right out of the box. I could do all the most basic functions without ever programming a thing. Once I installed the software, I got a lot more control. I was able to program the mouse buttons to give me single, double and right click functions as well as scrolling, the most common functions for my work. The keyboard functions include an easy application switcher, a button which boots up the default email program, and one which I've programmed to open my browser. Another key opens the control panel, and a fifth I've programmed to bring up my documents window -- a huge time-saver for a writer. There's also a key to bring up the calculator. Function keys are similarly programmable, and with the amount of choice I have I could automate all of my most common tasks and still have keys left over. There are also control keys for audio functions, and all the standard keys including a keypad which was sorely missed in my laptop. There's even a key to check battery status on both mouse and keyboard.

One of the things I liked most about the keyboard is that it can apparently be secured against keystroke monitors. Not that I have a lot of concern about that particular issue with my set-up, but people who are working in unsecured office space might well appreciate that feature.

The keys have a good, solid feel to them, and are surprisingly quiet for a stand-alone keyboard. The mouse works beautifully on a bare desk, and has a good hand feel.

If Logitech quality holds true for this duo, I look forward to many years of heavy use for both. At it's current price point, I'd call this set a bargain, and one well worth checking out.

Digital camera Review: Absolutely not worth it

This thing died in less then a year, luckily Logitech sent me a replacement (Model: MK320) which is a thousand times better I suggest getting that over this model. The only reason this got 2 stars was because of Logitech support.
