Digital camera reviews of Logitech Wireless Desktop MK 300Digital camera Review: Easy wireless desktop set up Summary: 4 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Out of the box, a light plastic keyboard. The keys are low profile. Easy to type on. The legs in the back are made of a light plastic and are difficult to keep down on an uneven surface.
There is an antenna unit that plugs into your computer's USB port. There is a button to push to sync with the keyboard and mouse. Am using only the keyboard for now as I prefer a trackball to the optical mouse.
No problems so far.
December 2009 product update - Have been using this for a few months now. No problems and works seemlessly with my computer. Battery life is much better than previous wireless input devices I have had.

I have been using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse for several years, and although it served me well I decided it was time for a new one. I got this MK300 and couldn't be happier. Super easy to install/set-up, more compact than my old keyboard, and more programmable too. It has some nice options for a low-priced basic unit.
INSTALL/SET-UP:
I use this unit with my Acer desktop - because I like wireless. I plugged the receiver (smaller than a deck of cards) into a USB port, and the keyboard and mouse worked instantly (they came with batteries - nice!)... no downloading or installing needed. If you want to program some of the keys on the keyboard, you do need to put in the included CD ROM (so this may not be a good option for a netbook that lacks an optical drive) and install the software. It's very simple, with an extremely idiot-proof user interface; I didn't need to look in the manual at all, it was very self-explanatory.
PROGRAMMABLE FEATURES:
The keyboard comes with 'hot keys' already set up. These include an 'Internet Zone' (keys for email, browser, search engine, messenger), a "Multimedia Zone" (controls your media player - like iTunes), a "Volume Zone" (including a mute button), and a "Convenience Zone" (calculator and battery status check). With the software, you can over-ride any of these pre-sets and program what you want.
You are also able to customize your "F" keys. F1 - F4 launch your applications for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and calendar. F5 - F8 are programmable to launch your favorite application, game, or folder. F9 - F12 are shortcuts for saving files, undoing, redoing, and opening your CD tray.
The mouse is also programmable to a degree. Via the software, you can set speed, enable game options, and assign tasks to the buttons/scroll wheels.
THE HARDWARE PER SE:
The keyboard is more compact than my previous Logitech wireless keyboard, which makes it easier to move about my desk. The keys are "low profile". At first I didn't like them - they are a little bit old school. But I got used to them in a few hours and now I like their quiet sound and the firm 'feel' they have which lets me know that I have actually pressed a key. The mouse is standard - nothing fancy or ergonomic, no extra keys - it does fit nicely in my hand. The receiver only plugs into a USB port, which is nice - my previous set's receiver plugged in in 2 places.
BOTTOM LINE:
Easy set-up, compact design, and a nice array of programmable features for such an affordable product.

UPDATE - December 21, 2009: I have had to replace the mouse batteries twice - they last on average 10 weeks. The mouse eats batteries, the keyboard is on the original set. I use my computer almost every night for a couple of hours. I am a little disappointed in the battery life of the mouse.
I have my MK300 connected to a desktop computer running Vista OS. Set-up was so easy I didn't have to "read" the manual. Until you get to the Keyboard Features section of the manual there is no reading - the basic set-up is so easy there are only pictures to guide you.
Both the keyboard and mouse have a substantial, well-built feel to them. The keyboard is heavier than my Compaq OEM keyboard and I appreciate the fact that this keyboard does not have a wrist rest. The keys are super quiet and since I have my computer area in my master bedroom, anyone trying to get some sleep while I'm on the computer will appreciate the quietness. The optical mouse is super sensitive to movement (even after changing the tracking to slow), much more so than the wired optical mouse I replaced. At this time I'm not so sure I like the super sensitivity of the movement; perhaps in time I will adjust to it. It may eventually come in handy with some games I play.
I also love the enhanced F-key functions - the blue icons make them so easy to see.
Another feature I love is the Keyboard Security located at the My Keyboard tab, which securely encrypts your keystrokes so they cannot be detected by another computer.
I did have a slight issue with the mouse - at first I thought it was defective but it was just my stupidity! A quick phone call to Logitech's customer service department helped me with what I was doing wrong (I needed to relocate the receiver). Once I relocated the receiver in a different area, I tested the transmitter distance - I could use the keyboard and mouse almost 4 feet away before losing the signal.
I will update my review at a later date concerning the battery life. Hopefully Logitech's estimate of UP TO 15 months for the keyboard/8 months for the mouse will be accurate.
Digital camera Review: Excelent Compatibility Summary: 5 Stars
This is a nice wireless keyboard and mouse.
I mobilize it on a Vista and Ubuntu Linux laptop and it works great
out of the box with no keyboard and mouse software installed.
Digital camera Review: Excellent Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased a Windows 7 PC, and I decided to buy a new wireless keyboard/mouse to go with it (my old one was getting a bit grungy). After reading many reviews of many different Logitech products, I was confused by the many very good and very bad reviews for each one. But the MK300 seemed to be generally positively received, and the price was right. After several weeks of using it, I can recommend it with almost no reservations. I say "almost," because the mouse may be a bit small for some people - it is quite a bit smaller than my old wireless mouse, and it took some getting used to. But now I think I like it better. The bottom line is that everything works great, and I haven't experienced any problems. I would purchase this model again.
