Digital camera reviews of Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers

Digital camera Review: Clean, crisp and juicy
Summary: 4 Stars

Survey said high bang-4-buck coefficient. Corroborated! Clean, crisp and good mid range. This a 2.0 system (no sub-woofer) and the 2.5" woofers although very responsive will not knock your tooth fillings loose. Fine with me. I use these speakers to listen casually and to deconstruct songs with the Amazing Slow Downer. They are plenty loud for personal listening and also work good as atmosphere for parties. If you're use to a 5:1 surround sound system or your $32,000 Klipsch home theater system, you're gonna find these a bit thin. However if you are looking for a couple of sweet desktop speakers that match the sound performance of last generations Panasonic college dorm set-up, you'll be satisfied, and possibly impressed. I was.

Digital camera Review: Computer speakers that are very good for TV dialogue, too.
Summary: 4 Stars

We have these speakers on our two flat-panel LCD TV's. They are plug-in speakers, and they have a one button sound quality adjustment (treble/bass). The features aren't many, but for the price, these are great speakers for TV listening. That is especially true for those programs and DVD's that have the soundtrack and the ambient noises louder than the conversations. With these speakers, you won't miss what the characters are saying. There are probably various ways to attach these speakers to a TV, but we have just plugged the mini into the headphone jack. If your TV doesn't have a jack you will probably need another cable to make them work on your TV. On the other hand, these are very good--and inexpensive--speakers for use with a tablet, laptop, or MP3 player of any kind.

Digital camera Review: Consider the source
Summary: 4 Stars

For the money, $27 with free shipping, these speakers are very good.
I find that the audio source you run through them make all the difference.
I ran them through the headphone jack of my home theater amplifier, and controlling the main volume from the amp itself made for getting the sound out of the speakers very good.
If used on a low quality amplified source, such as a portable device, the sound won't be as pure.
I bought them to run the sound through a small HD radio. In that, they're only fair, but listenable in an environment (workplace) where loud volume isn't allowed anyway.

Long story short, the source has everything to do with the audio output from these $27 speakers. Well worth the money. Substantial feel to them, too. I've seen other plug-in portable speakers which weigh half as much and sound cheesy.

Digital camera Review: Constant hum/buzz right from the start
Summary: 1 Stars

These are being returned right away. The sound quality is horrible. I bought them because they were one of the only PC speakers to feature a headset jack anymore. They're not worth it. As other reviewers have said, there is a constant very loud buzzing as soon as you turn them on, even when the volume knob is turned all the way down. I agree that the sound is flat and muffled. I've used my headset on all kinds of other devices and speakers and they have always sounded great, so I know it's not that.
Now I have to try and find another pair of speakers that has a headset jack....

Digital camera Review: Cord Mayhem
Summary: 3 Stars

This is the first PC speaker system I've used where the cords are an issue. First the two speakers are permanently wired together so instead of threading the cable connecting the left and right speakers through the two cord holes in my desk top the thick connecting cable is strung across my desk. The power cord is on the left speaker and the hookup cable on the right speaker. All three cables are permanently wired to the speakers. With my desk configuration this makes for an unsightly appearance on the desk top. The sound is acceptable and what one should expect from speakers in this price price range. Separate bass and treble controls would have been nice and since I leave my speakers on all the time I don't see a need for the bright orange "on light".
