Digital camera reviews of Logitech Z-5500 THX-Certified 5.1 Digital Surround Sound Speaker SystemDigital camera Review: 5 Stars Well Deserved Summary: 5 Stars
I came, I saw it bump, I was amazed, I was jealous, I want one, but can't afford it now.
If you can afford it, and want a surround sound system that is pure movie and music quality, and is of great value, there is not much else that stands on the top of the hill with this set, at the same price range.
quality people. nothing but 5 stars. or more...
Digital camera Review: 5 stars; totally worth the mney Summary: 5 Stars
Ok, after reading many reviews I came to the conclusion; I should try my luck with the 5500z. Let me tell you, after hooking up this 5.1 I immediately turned the sub to 3/4, the center to 1/2, the surround to 1/2 and volume to 3/4. I first played Shpongle's "Dorcet Perception" and nearly flipped out. I had gone to a Bose outlet previously before purchasing this system, and for a 2.1 sound system it was $399. I got a 5.1 surround from Logitech for $279... almost half the price of the Bose. The 188 watt sub is very nice; it BUMPS. Trust me. Overall this system is one of the best buys available, truly your "bang for your buck". If you have less than around $800 to spend on a system forget about Bose; I did. After cranking this system I began comparing the sound to the Bose system i heard for twice the price. Go with the 5500z from Logitech, you can't go wrong.
Digital camera Review: 6 year experience of GOOD SOUND! Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned this speaker for 6 years, I have to say, the quality is still the same, Logitech Z5500 ROCKS, the subwoofer is a monster, believe me or not, I've never tried this speaker at +11 maximum level because I do afraid my windows won't be in place! its bass sounds tight and cool, not like the cheap one. For movie, the real surround sound give you real movie experience, this speaker hooks up to my PC, my PS3 and I can switch input channels.
I rarely leave a review for an electronic device but today I think I have to write something.
Keep it up Logitech! I will definitely choose Z5500 if I have to buy a new or extra speaker in the future!
Digital camera Review: 9 out of 10 Summary: 5 Stars
I love this system! All the good things you hear about this system are true! I give it a 9 out of 10 because there is one thing that bugs me...when you turn this system up (and it gets loud) the sub cant keep up with the satellites and so the sound is not as full as it is at medium volume. But dont let this stop you from getting the system. It ROCKS!!!
Digital camera Review: A Monster! Summary: 4 Stars
This really is a monster of a system, I have to admit I was not really aware of what I was getting into. I just wanted something that would accept The S/PDIF optical output from my soundcard, I was tired of the clicking buzzing of cheap phono plugs in my 10-15 year old Altec system. Most of the weight and bulk is in the 10" Sub, but I really like the way it sounds, more natural than the smaller ones. Remember though there are 5 other speakers to hookup and you may not have the layout to do that easily. I found the 25' wires for the rear speakers could have been even a little longer in my case.
I was going to fore-go hooking up the rear speakers, but I'm glad i didn't and found a way to place the speakers. The special-effects mode
Stereo x2 is really great. This is my favorite mode as i don't have much 5.1 material. This single mode makes me feel that the system was a real upgrade.
The control unit is also larger than many of the other systems because it has all the electronics in it for decoding and mixing the channels. As other have mentioned it has a few inputs and the standard headphone jack. The control unit also has a standard phono input jack easily accessible next the headphones jack, this is convienent for quickly connecting as digital music player, camera audio, or any device temporarily. If you don't want to use 5.1 sound, one unique input allows you to input 3 separate stereo inputs and switch between them. The IR wireless remote is probably something I'll never use but in some systems this could be a real useful feature, just program it into a universal remote. My control stand didn't have a level base, which is annoying, but not bad enough to ship it back, I just shimmed it. The cable on the control unit could also be a little longer, so the Sub could really be out of the way.
So while costly I'm happy, and this system is working well for me. While I usually still prefer to listen to CDs on my stereo, this system is capable of producing great sound; I'm listening to a 96KHz 24bit recording right now from DVD.
