Digital camera reviews of Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard (Black)

Digital camera Review: Amazing wireless keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

This keyboard is simply amazing. Keys are soft, touchpad is really functional, it is very easy to install and it is a beautiful piece of a home theater. Support from Logitech is also awesome. I had problems with the keyboard in Brazil and the support worked really great.

Digital camera Review: Amazon rocks!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a product review, then a partner seller review. I recommend the keyboard, and also recommend Amazon as your source for buying it.

As for the keyboard, it's gorgeous. It looks wonderful on my desk, and it has its own storage for when I need to use the space to write. The keys are the quietest keys I've ever tapped. My only complaint is that to keep it beautiful, you have to fanatical about cleaning it. It shows finger prints, so I definitely don't recommend it if you're the type who eats at their computer or gets their fingers dirty very easily. I don't think I'm clean either, it's just too expensive of a product and too nice looking of a product for it to be treated in such a fashion.

As for my tale of woe getting this product. I bought this originally from a partner company, we'll call Liger Roundabout, because it too had a rebate deal. Not to mention, its price was enticing before you factored in shipping. The problem is: this LR company sent the box to the wrong address several states away. By the time the box was redirected, it had been opened - the keyboard had been manhandled and the mouse I ordered with it missing. To replace the keyboard, LR demanded I return first the keyboard then they would ship a replacement. When they did not, we called and they claimed they didn't receive it. Meanwhile, the mouse they replaced from the missing first order they resent to the same wrong address. After the incompetence, we canceled the entire order and went without.

Contrast that with Amazon. A week after the LR offer for a $30 rebate, Amazon had one, so we bought the same two products, only this time, the mouse too had a rebate. I received the keyboard, and the silver plate on the bottom was slightly misglued, leaving a discernible crease. I called Amazon, they overnighted me a new keyboard without hassle.

The power of customer service is mighty indeed.

Digital camera Review: An awesome HTPC keyboard that is missing some key HTPC functions.
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been using the Logitech DiNovo edge for over a month now, on my custom built Windows 7 HTPC. First of all, let me state this: Windows 7 Media Center + ATi 5770 + SSD + BluRay Drive = HTPC heaven. I have been fiddling with the HTPC concept for a couple years now, but finally, after all this time, do I feel that things are really coming together for the HTPC. Because of this, we are also starting to see more HTPC-centric devices like the Harmony remotes and the DiNovo keyboards.

I was torn between the DiNovo Edge and the DiNovo Mini, and I am very glad I went with the Edge, as I now like to do a lot of web surfing from the TV these days. The keyboard is comfortable to use, it is sturdy, and it has worked flawlessly since I bought it. The trackpad is a bit too sensitive, however this is easy enough to adjust in the software, which works flawlessly on Windows 7 64-bit. The glowing lights under the surface are incredibly slick, they almost remind me of Star Trek's LCARS interface.

On the downside however, is the fact that this multimedia keyboard requires using the Fn+F keys in order to access the multimedia functions. When I am watching TV in a dark room, finding the Fn key is meddlesome when needing to play or pause the show. So much so, that 99% of the time, I use the mouse to perform these functions. It would seem that the next generation DiNovo should have dedicated play, pause, forward, and back buttons to really have a true multimedia keyboard.

Digital camera Review: An elegant, well designed wireless keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought Logitech's diNovo Edge Bluetooth keyboard to replace their MX5500 keyboard which suffered from sticking keys. At first I was hesitant to buy another Logitech product, but I really thought highly of their Bluetooth wireless. I also read the most of the reviews of the MX5500 and apparently no one else experienced sticking keys like I did, so I had to conclude it may have been the result of a manufacturing flaw (possibly the keys did not get lubricated). Anyway, I'm glad I got this keyboard. It is a very slim with a fairly traditional key layout and a rechargeable battery. It was easy to install, the old mouse works fine with it, the keys are very smooth in operation, it has all the extra doo-dads that I liked on the MX5500 (zoom, audio controls, one key app launch and other keyboard customization capabilities) as well as a nice little touch pad and partial illumination. It is also very elegantly styled, something that doesn't usually interest me except that I use this in my living room. It does lack a numeric keypad! Personally that's fine with me as in 40 years of working with computers, I have never used one. There are only a few things that I think miss the mark. The touch pad has an innovative scrolling feature that doesn't seem to work well compared to the arrow keys which are right next to the touch pad. I also would have preferred optional full keyboard illumination, but all in all, it's a nicely priced alternative to the rather expensive MX5500.

Digital camera Review: Another 'Crusher' from Logitech
Summary: 5 Stars

I was SO frustrated with TWO Microsoft wireless keyborads that I dropped the $162.00 on this DiNovo.

In short- NOTHING I have ever typed on comes close.
Buy it and enjoy typing like it should be, pleasureful!
