Digital camera reviews of Logitech diNovo Mini

Digital camera Review: A must have device for HTPCs!!
Summary: 4 Stars

This keyboard mouse combo is the perfect, and nearly priceless, solution for HTPC users. This completely eliminates the need to be sitting down to use your computer. I am constantly walking around with mine in the living room. It's simply plug-n-play. I even use it in my BIOS and OS setup, something I did not expect from a bluetooth device. I wish it came with a charging cradle instead of a plug-in cord; but that is just a wish, not a drawback as battery life is pretty long (although not the length that Logitech proclaims).

There are 3 reasons why I did not give this little wonder 5 stars. First, there are no function "F" keys. During windows setup, I had to grab another keyboard to hit the "F8" key; but how often do you really use those anyways?
Second, the mouse pad can be a little finicky at times; too over or under-sensitive.
Third, from a multimedia keyboard designed toward use with HTPCs, I would expect a nice eject button somewhere on the device.
These are 3 MINOR quirks that are easily overlooked for its many other (nearly endless) benefits.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I went from my regular keyboard to a Logitech cordless and have been happy that I did so. The next step is this couch-friendly, remote, mini keyboard/control pad, which I am using to run Media Center on my Vista PC. For quality, ease of installation and functionality, I give it full marks. For ease of use, I deduct a star. When you shrink all this functionality into such a small space, there is bound to be some penalty. Certain characters ( _ + - = \ " ' ) have been moved from their usual homes to other keys, where they require you to use the function key to type them. As at least a couple of them ( - ' ) are very common, this can be irritating. Also, I found the ClickPad, when used as a touch pad to point and click, very difficult at first, and I am still not comfortable with it. The trick is to use thumb tips for everything. This unit is not a replacement for your keyboard and mouse. But, for couch potatoes determined to take root and for those keen to eliminate clutter, this elegant, light little gadget might be just the thing for you.

Digital camera Review: A work of art
Summary: 5 Stars

This keyboard mouse combo is the best for media center i have ever seen. Connects effortlessly, always on and is very sleek looking. The only small comment I have is that the mouse pad is a little slow. However, you can easily change the mouse setting and it will work fine. The buttons are sturdy and comfortable. The unit size is perfect. Not too small where the keys are useless yet small enough to fit with the remote controls tray. Logitech did a very good job.

Digital camera Review: AWESOME Media Keyboard
Summary: 5 Stars

I use this keyboard with my mac in my bedroom, works great, the windows button can be used for the command button and because bluetooth is built into my macbook I don't need the usb adapter. The windows button functions as the command (apple) key and all other functions work pretty much exactly the same as if I were using a pc. I have used several logitech products including mx-laser duo, diNovo edge, & harmony one (the harmony sadly went bad but was replaced FREE OF CHARGE by logitech despite the fact it was slightly past warranty coverage).
The only major complaint I have with the keyboard is that it makes a buzzing sound whenever the touchpad is glowing orange. Don't know why.. it doesn't buzz when set to media mode & pad is green, or when only keyboard is lit. But when the touchpad is lit orange it makes a buzz which isn't noticeable over the volume of a tv, but can be when you're laying in bed and the keyboard is lit (only until it goes to sleep 5-10 seconds). I have the standard sized diNovo edge in my den and it makes no buzzing sound (best media keyboard ever but too large for bedroom use & not backlit).
I was going to return the keyboard because of the buzzing but have read EVERYWHERE on the internet that the buzzing is just something that is there and can't be fixed. I would never return the keyboard for another keyboard because of the buzzing because as I said for what I use it for (bedroom media w/ mac/pc) THERE IS NOTHING better out there. I can use it for weeks (its a keyboard with sleep mode so it doesn't stay "on" for long usually or deplete battery) without recharging it.
The keypad is small, but I have an iphone so (and I think anyone who texts often with any phone can agree) the keyboard is easily big enough (especially with the backlight) to use at night (in the bedroom). I wouldn't trade my regular dinovo edge in the den anytime of day for it but like I said the edge is just too big to think about using the in the bedroom. I would never try typing a paper and don't really like chatting with the keyboard, although as I said its not bad compared with texting, but it is awesome for watching movies, listening to music, & other media applications (which I'm fairly certain is its intended usage).
Also works great with ps3 as we have used it for chat & text entry with my roommates ps3, with no problems.
I would very highly recommend this for use in home theatre setup. As I said, I have the diNovo edge and love it, but had the dinovo mini been available when I purchased the edge, I probably would have gotten the mini because it is smaller and fits in better than a regular sized keyboard in a entertainment system (large keyboard gives an office-y feel). The only thing I can think of that would make it better (besides eliminating the buzzing) would be to include an IR output so it could be used as a remote for tv/components.

MAC USERS - This works with Macs.

I've been using this for about two months with very minor issues. The first thing I'll say is, you will not be able to type as fast as you would on a Blackberry etc. The keyboard is slightly larger and you have to stretch to get some of the buttons with your thumbs. The mouse works ok, not as well as an actual mouse/touchpad, but it gets the job done. Just don't expect to play any video games or use photoshop with it.

The range is good on the Bluetooth (about 30 feet). I started by using my built in Bluetooth on my Mac Mini but had issues when I had to restart. I went ahead and used the Bluetooth USB dongle instead. That way when it loses the connection I can just hit the reset buttons and I'm back up. Although, it doesn't lose the BT connection all that much. At least not enough to complain about.

It's a great alternative to having a keyboard and mouse in your living room. Just make sure you always put it back in the same spot! I've spent quite a few frustrating moments trying to find the dang thing :)

I gave it four stars mainly because the mouse takes patience to use if you need to accurately hit small buttons or navigate a lot of menus.
Overall - Worth the money and excellent for a home media center.
