Digital camera reviews of Lomographic Holga Starter KitDigital camera Review: Holga for life!!! Summary: 5 StarsI love my Holga. But buyer beware as soon as you start using one lomographic camera something strange takes over you. You begin to start craving more lomographic cameras. I currently own the holga the supersampler and an LCA. But it doesnt stop there, you begin to realize that there are hundreds of other cameras you can modify out there in attics and garages and you start roming the flea markts for old kodak brownies and other cameras you can change to take different sizes of film and use those too. Now i have 14 cameras and i keep at least one on me at all times, another side effect of lomoitis.
the book that comes with it is really good too. Great photos, great ideas to get you started.
Digital camera Review: I love my holga! Summary: 4 StarsI LOVE my holga. Its so much fun to work with and people always asks about it when I'm out and about snapping pics. I got the starter kit about a year ago. The book included in the kit has lots of beautiful images and fun tips. The kit also contained batteries for the flash, a roll of 120 mm film, instructions, and electrical tape. I highly recommend that some kind of tape is used because I've had problems with the back cover sliding off. I also recommend converting your holga so it can use 35 mm film (you can either buy a converter or make one yourself). In my experience, developing 120 is expensive and its not something you can take to a drugstore to develop. I guess a cheaper way of developing 120 film is to develop it yourself if you have the means to do so.
I'd have to say that the best feature is the colour flash, its amazing, especially with multiple exposures.
I think the worst feature is the focus, because it doesn't seem to do much of anything (at least in my experience).
Don't expect all your images to be phenomenal or you might end up disappointed. Holga is perfect at making things imperfect, which is the best part. Embrace the crazy looking pictures.
Digital camera Review: Fun at first.. Summary: 3 StarsIm not a professional photographer by any means, but I bought this camera set thinking it would be a fun little addition to a road trip I had planned. I read on the whole lomography thing.. but when the camera came I was a little dissapointed for the price of $60.00. It seems like all you really need is THE CAMERA, THE ELECTRICAL TAPE, THE FILM. Everything else they charge you for is not necessary.
It certainly was fun to take the pictures, but I have yet to develop the film, not a lot of places near my home deal with that particular kind of film. The whole taping process of the camera is a drag as well. I honestly don't even know if I'll ever use it again. So it was pretty much a $60.00 one time toy.Maybe I'll be more excited when I actually develop the film.. ? :)
Digital camera Review: Excellent for Lomography virgins Summary: 5 StarsAfter reading the awesome reviews for this product, I decided to purchase one. It takes really cool, artsy pictures and the instructions were clear and helpful. Can't wait to take more pictures!
Digital camera Review: This Camera Rocks Summary: 5 StarsI went out on a limb buying this camera. My friend has a fisheye camera and I thought that was cool, so I googled it, and then discovered the Holga and the Diana cameras. I looked at countless pictures taken with the cameras and decided I wanted part of the double exposure club.
It is so exciting waiting for the pictures to be developed and the pictures have come out great so far, really interesting...I tried using 35mm film and the pics didn't turn out right so don't waste your time trying that trick. Skip 35mm modifications altogether and stick to 120!
I love my Holga and recommend this camera for anyone who is looking to jazz up their photographic journey thru life. I use a digital but whenever I bring out the Holga everyone wants to know what the heck it is and want to play with her.
